How to get tickets and what to know about the U.S. Senior Golf Open in Stevens Point

The U.S. Senior Golf Open heads to Stevens Point in June 2023.

Taking place at SentryWorld Golf Course, some of the best golfers, pro and amateur, will hit the links for four rounds of championship golf at the end of June and early July.

For those interested in attending or watching on TV, here's what you need to know.

Where is the 2023 U.S. Senior Golf Open?

SentryWorld Golf Course in Steven Point, Wisconsin. It's a public course at 601 Michigan Ave. N.

When does the 2023 U.S. Senior Golf Open take place?

The tournament will run from June 29 to July 2. Practice rounds will be held on June 27-28. Championship rounds will take place from June 29 through July 2.

What is the U.S. Senior Golf Open?

The U.S. Senior Golf Open is a golf championship tournament for golfers who are 50 years old at the start of championship play, or older. There were over 3,000 entries for this year's event. Golfers from 48 states are expected to play, including 60 players from Wisconsin.

When does the course open to fans each day?

The course opens at 7 a.m. every day. The course closes at 7 p.m. during the practice rounds and at the close of play during the championship rounds.

The first groups tee off at 7 a.m. The last groups tee off around 2:30 for the first four days of the event and around 12:45 p.m. for the third and fourth rounds.

Who is expected to play?

At the top of the list are Wisconsin's own Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly. Stricker, 56, from Edgerton, has won 12 times on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, including four majors. Kelly has won 11 times on the Champions tour, including two majors.

There are also five former U.S. Open champions on the start list: two-time champions Ernie Els (1994, 1997), Retief Goosen (2001, 2004) and Lee Janzen (1993, 1998), as well as Michael Campbell (2005) and Jim Furyk (2003). Additionally, there some major champions in the lineup: Vijay Singh, Bernhard Langer Mark O'Meara Mike Weir, Padraig Harrington, Davis Love III, Y.E. Yang, Stewart Cink, Darren Clarke, Justin Leonard, Tom Lehman and Jeff Sluman.

How do you get tickets to the U.S. Senior Golf Open?

Tickets must be purchased online ahead of the event. Tickets will be received digitally and must be shown on a mobile device upon arrival. The ticket packages are:

  • Daily Gallery ($25-50): General admission for a single day. Includes access to grandstands and concessions.

  • Weekly Gallery ($165): General admission for all six days. Includes access to grandstands and concessions.

  • Experience WI - Daily ($45-85): Single-day general admission. Includes access to grandstands, concessions and the Experience WI tent which includes a private shared hospitality space overlooking the practice putting green and tenth tee. It also has food and beverage offerings from local vendors.

  • Experience WI - Weekly ($295): Six-day general admissions. Includes access to grandstands, concessions and the Experience WI tent which includes a private shared hospitality space overlooking the practice putting green and tenth tee. It also has food and beverage offerings from local vendors.

  • PJ's Champions Club ($325 to $500): Single-day admission. Gets you access to grandstands, access to the premium clubhouse that has complimentary food and beverages, access to the 17th green skybox and VIP off-site parking.

Do kids get in free?

Yes. Kids aged 17 and younger can request a complimentary gallery ticket for any day of the event at the will call windows with a ticketed or credentialed adult. A maximum of four junior tickets are permitted per ticketed or credentialed adult.

Are there any military discounts?

Yes. Active and retired military members can request a complimentary gallery ticket and one for a guest online through GovX here or at the ticket office with military identification.

How to watch the U.S. Senior Golf Open

The four championships rounds will air on NBC's Golf Channel and Peacock app. The air schedule is:

What's the parking situation?

Parking is free, as are shuttles to and from SentryWorld Golf Course.

Parking is located off-site at UW-Stevens Point, Lot-Q. It is on Michigan Avenue between Maria Drive and Stanley Street and about five minutes south of SentryWorld. Free shuttles will take spectators to and from the parking lot to the course.

The parking lot will have accessible parking spaces for vehicles with appropriate HP/DP license plates or placards and accessibility compliant shuttles. For fans requiring lift-equipped shuttle transportation please contact the U.S. Senior Open Championship Headquarters at 715-544-1029 for further information.

Bike racks will be provided to park bikes near Gate 1 Main Entrance. Cyclists are asked to follow directions of volunteers and posted signage. Bike locks are not provided.

What is SentryWorld Golf Course?

The course was created in Stevens Point in 1982 by Sentry Insurance. This will be the first U.S. Senior Open held on the course and third USGA championship. On the 18 holes for the tournament, par is around 71.

A fun fact: there are up to 30,000 flowers are used on the 16th hole at SentryWorld, which is dubbed the Flower Hole.

Par is 71 on the course, though that is subjec to change. Here is a breakdown by hole:

Are there grandstands for spectators?

Yes. Grandstands will be located on the Driving Range, first tee, ninth green, 10th tee, 16th green (the Flower Hole) and 18th green, according to the USGA.

Are all types of payment accepted within the entrance gates?

No. This is a cashless event. Only credit and debit cards will be accepted from American Express, MasterCard and Visa.

Is there wifi available?

The USGA will provide complimentary wifi throughout the course.

Can you get autographs?

Only kids 17 and under can ask for autographs at the designated autograph area adjacent to the practice green.
