Thursday's MetroWest Fantastic Five powered their teams to the state tournament Sweet 16

Phew. Thursday was chock full of MIAA state tournament games.

Some teams reached the end of their road. Others survived to reach the Sweet 16. These Fantastic Five MetroWest and Milford athletes ensured their seasons have a few more days.

Check out the performers that stood out from Thursday's state tournament action:

PHOEBE CARROLL, Hopedale girls basketball

The sophomore messed around and got a triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals for the Blue Raiders in a 48-28 win over No. 22 Granby on Thursday in the Division 5 Round of 32. Hopedale's Mackenzie Reynolds contributed 15 points and six rebounds. The No. 11 Blue Raiders (11-10) will face either No. 6 Palmer or No. 27 Ware in the Round of 16.

COLIN GLYNN, Marlborough boys ice hockey

He distributed four assists with a goal, contributing to all five goals for the Panthers in a 5-1 win over No. 16 Bedford on Thursday in the Division 3 first round. Marlborough's Anthony Skillings scored two goals, while Luc Masse had a goal and assist. The Panthers (10-8-3) will travel to face top-seeded Nauset at 6 p.m. Saturday in Orleans.

ERICA HILLS/ELLIANA SCALABRINE, Dover-Sherborn girls basketball

Hills dropped a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Raiders in a 60-34 win over Saugus on Thursday in the Division 3 Round of 32. Scalabrine contributed 24 points for No. 8 Dover-Sherborn (14-7). The Raiders will host No 9 Pentucket (20-1) on Tuesday at a time to be determined.

PATRICK MADDEN, Hopedale boys basketball

Madden dropped four 3s and poured in 27 points to go along with nine rebounds in a 57-32 win over No. 25 Innovation Academy in the Division 5 Round of 32 on Thursday. The No. 8 Blue Raiders (11-10) will host No. 9 Granby at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Hopedale's Robbie Manning added 12 points, as eight Blue Raiders found their way to the score sheet.

SHANNON WELBURN, Wellesley girls basketball

The sophomore scored 17 points, and the No. 5 Raiders (17-4) reached the Division 1 Sweet 16 with a 42-28 win over No. 28 Durfee on Thursday. Tara Battaglino added 13 points, and Shea Welburn scored 10 for Wellesley. The Raiders will host No. 12 Bridgewater-Raynham (15-6) at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

No. 6 Burke 94, No. 27 Millis 57: Jason Fournier led MIllis (10-12) with 12 points Thursday in the Division 4 Round of 32.

No. 16 Abington 72, No. 17 Medway 68: Caden Reisman dropped 17 points for the Mustangs (10-11) in the Division 3 Round of 32 on Thursday. Medway's Jacob White added 16 points.

No. 8 Newburyport 60, No. 25 Hudson 50: Jake Attaway scored 20 points for the Hawks (11-11) in the Division 3 Round of 32 on Thursday. Hudson's Jackson O'Brien added 15 points.

No. 1 Hoosac Valley 78, No. 32 Keefe Tech 54: George Anastos scored 16 points with three 3s for the Broncos (11-11) in the Berkshires on Thursday. Keefe Tech's Logan Greenlaw added 12 points with nine rebounds in the Division 5 Round of 32.

Girls basketball

No. 4 Millis 82, No. 29 Blue Hills RVT 23: Lindsey Grattan led four Millis players in double figures with 12 points Thursday in the Division 4 Round of 32. Kyra Rice added 11, while Grace Higgins and Molly Rand each scored 10. Millis will host No. 13 Wahconah (15-6) on Monday at 6 p.m. in the Round of 16.

No. 13 Andover 45, No. 20 Franklin 43: Chloe Fales led the Panthers (10-11) with 15 points in Thursdays Division 1 Round of 32. Franklin's Norah MacCallum scored nine, and Lena Malymina added seven.

Boys ice hockey

'New level of play.' : Algonquin-Hudson girls hockey blanks Auburn after boys fall in 2 OT

No. 2 Shawsheen Valley Tech 3, No. 31 Hopedale 1: Aiden Collins found the net for the Blue Raiders (6-14-2) in the third period Thursday in the Division 3 Round of 32. Hopedale's Sean McGee added the assist.
