Thursday's full slate of high school volleyball included 22 area matches

BROOKINGS — Fifth-rated Class AA Watertown shook off a slow start to record a 3-1 Eastern South Dakota Conference volleyball win over Brookings on Thursday.

The Bobcats (1-5 overall) won the opening set 25-22 before the Arrows (4-2) rebounded with 25-21, 25-14 and 25-21 to take the match.

Emery Thury led the way for the Arrows, going 42-47 spiking with 20 kills and 22-22 serving with four aces and 16 digs.

Other key contributors were Miranda Falconer, 19-22 serving with three aces and 120-121 setting with 42 assists; Paige McAreavey, 13-14 serving with three aces; Emily Tisher, 26-32 spiking with eight kills; Eve Hauger, 20-21 spiking with six kills and five block assists; Carter Jurrens, five block assists; Natalie Pearson, 27 digs; and Addi Johnston, 11 digs.

The Arrows visit Huron on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Huron 3, Aberdeen Central 2

HURON — Huron held off a big comeback by the Golden Eagles to win the Eastern South Dakota Conference match 25-12, 25-23, 22-25, 16-25 and 15-10.

Leaders for Aberdeen Central (3-1) included Ayrlie Waldo, 25-27 serving with two aces and 21 assists; Grace Kuch, 12 kills and 19 digs; Lauryn Burckhard, 10 kills; Sawyer Bahr, 21 assists; Ashley Wangler, two solo and two block assists; and Taryn Nieman, seven kills.

Aberdeen Roncalli 3, Tiospa Zina 0

AGENCY VILLAGE — The Cavaliers won the Northeast Conference match 25-8, 25-14 and 25-16.

Jaidyn Feickert tallied two aces, seven kills and 11 digs for Roncalli. Ava Danielson contributed three aces, Faith Danielson 20 assists, Ava Hanson 12 kills, Maddie Huber 12 assists, Camryn Bain 15 digs and McKenna O'Keefe six kills.

Milbank 3, Clark-Willow Lake 1

CLARK — Big matches from Rachel Schulte (three aces, 22 assists, 19 kills and 17 digs) and Skyler Skoog (16 kills and 31 digs) guided Milbank to the 21-25, 25-19, 25-22 and 25-19 Northeast Conference victory.

Addisyn Krause added four aces, 21 assists and 15 digs; Shaylee Schuchard, two aces and 13 digs; Sierra Wenzl, two aces and 17 digs; Claire Snaza, five kills and three blocks; and Ella Sandvig, 32 digs.

Warner 3, Leola-Frederick Area 0

FREDERICK — Top-rated Class B Warner remained undefeated with a 25-12, 25-12 and 25-11 Lake Region Conference win.

Warner's leaders included Kyra Marcuson, 10 kills and two aces; Kyleigh Schopp, nine kills and four block assists; Lauren Marcuson, eight kills, 11 digs and two aces; Reagan Wood, 20 assists and four aces; Libby Scepaniak, 16 assists and two aces; and Courtney Bjorgaard, 10 digs.

Great Plains Lutheran 3, Tri-State 0

ROSHOLT — The Panthers (4-3) prevailed in the Eastern Coteau Conference match 25-12, 25-21 and 25-14.

Olivia Holmen led GPL with 11 kills and one solo and three block assists. Abby Kjenstad notched four aces and nine digs, Madeline Prahl 20 assists, Kaitlyn Rawerts seven assists; Kaylee Carlson, five kills; Esta Cameron, five kills and one solo and one block assist; and Grace Powers, 10 digs.

Northwestern 3, Langford Area 0

LANGFORD — Ashley Haven tallied 17 kills, three aces and 10 digs to lead No. 3 Class B Northwestern to the 25-16, 25-16 and 25-19 Lake Region Conference victory.

Sophia Troske contributed three aces, Tara Blachford two aces and seven digs, Ana Ratigan six kills, Taylor Vetter four kills and Ella Boekelheide 30 assists and 11 digs for the Wildcats.

Baylean Moen had two aces, seven kills and 14 digs for the Lions, who also got two aces, seven kills and 18 digs from Megan Gustafson; five kills and 15 digs from Eliana Darling; and 14 assists from Tawnee Nelson.

Castlewood 3, Deubrook Area 1

CASTLEWOOD — Presley Knecht's 17 kills and 22 digs carried the Warriors to the 25-17, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-18 Dakota Valley Conference win.

Gracie Haug added 38 assists, 19 digs, one solo block and one block assist; Emerson Carter 14 kills and two block assists; Ella Hunter, 10 kills and Cassidy Kirwan seven kills, three assists and 15 digs. Kylie Wittnebel went 19-19 serving with two aces and Kirwan 11-11 with an ace. Kaylin Larson pitched in with 21 digs.

Deubrook Area's leaders were Delaney Pedersen with two aces and 16 digs; Matte Bauman, 12 assists; Madalyn Bauman, 10 assists; Kyarra Blum, eight kills; Zoey Molengraaf, seven kills; Mataya Gouws, five kills; and Carly Engelstad, 14 digs.

Ipswich 3, Waubay-Summit 0

IPSWICH — The host Tigers recorded a 26-24, 25-19 and 25-20 non-conference win.

Marley Guthmiller (two aces and 10 kills), Reaghan Bowers (two aces and 12 assists), Josie Knutson ()11 assists, Gabby Wald (nine kills and 12 digs) and Kathryn Kilber (16 digs) led the way for Ipswich.

Sioux Valley 3, Beresford 0

SIOUX VALLEY — Kaedyn Sapp's 10 kills, three aces and nine digs lifted the Cossacks to the 25-10, 25-15 and 25-19 victory.

Allie Hofer contributed seven kills and four aces, Sunny Hesby 10 assists, Adison Renly four aces and Talya Vincent 13 digs.

Beresford was paced by Makiah Sharpe's six kills, Larissa Lyle's 17 assists and Abby Limoges' 16 digs.

Redfield 3, Deuel 0

CLEAR LAKE — Redfield won the Northeastern South Dakota Conference match 25-20, 25-20 and 25-13.

Hayden Gall powered the Pheasants by going 23-24 serving and 60-60 setting with 16 assists. Katie Rozell made nine kills and four block assists, Charli Jungwirth four assists and one solo and two block assists and Chloe Zens 12 digs.

Hope Bjerke notched seven kills and Kaitlyn Gubrud five for Deuel. Ella Kerkvliet chipped in with three aces and 17 digs, Josie Andersen seven assists and 12 digs, Kayden Russell three assists and Annika Kriz 14 digs.

Colman-Egan 3, De Smet 1

De SMET — Daniela Lee smacked 13 kills and Brynlee Landis 12 to lead Colman-Egan to the 25-10, 25-16, 23-25 and 25-12 Dakota Valley Conference victory.

Lee also had 12 digs and two blocks and Landis five aces. Kaylee Voelker contributed 14 assists, Lanie Mousel 12 assists, Karissa Williams eight assists, Elaina Rhode seven kills and 11 digs and Presley Luze 16 digs.

Megan Dylla produced 13 assists and five digs, Alyssa Asleson five assists, Hazel Luethmers 10 kills and five blocks, Mirra Beck five kills and six digs and Brooke Jennings five kills and six digs for the Bulldogs.

Estelline-Hendricks 3, Wilmot 0

WILMOT — The visiting Redhawks posted a 25-9, 25-10 and 25-8 non-conference win.

Addison Heinje recorded three kills and Emilie Metz two aces for Wilmot.

Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 1

LAKE BENTON, Minn. — Elkton-Lake Benton rolled to the 25-20, 25-11 and 25-11 Dakota Valley Conference win by getting 31 assists and six aces from Tevan Erickson.

Ella Crofutt added 10 digs, Kylie Ramlo 11 kills, Andrea Renkly eight kills, Aubree Bales seven kills and six digs and Malayna Hammen seven digs.

Emily Matson tallied seven assists, Julia Trystad four kills and Alicia Bickett three kills and three digs for ORR.

Mobridge-Pollock 3, Potter County 0

HOVEN — Katy Kemnitz recorded two aces and 13 assists and Reagan Weisbeck two aces and 16 digs to lead Mobridge-Pollock to a 25-13, 25-23, 25-23 win.

Charley Henderson added two aces and five kills, Ryli Thompson six kills and 10 digs, Sophia Overland six assists and Raelyn Aberle two aces for the Tigers.

Hitchcock-Tulare 3, James Valley Christian 1

HURON — Katelyn Schroeder smacked 25 kills to go along with two aces, 19 digs and one solo block and three block assists for the Patriots, who won 27-25, 25-19, 20-25 and 25-18.

Lila Johnson (39 assists), Gracyn Bixler (seven assists), Rebecca Huizenga (five block assists) and Cambree Hoekman (20 digs) also played key roles in the win.

Faulkton Area 3, North Central 0

FAULKTON — Addison Melius produced eight kills, 18 digs, one solo block and one block assist to ignite Faulkton Area to the 25-22, 25-11 and 25-14 win.

Anna Aesoph went 18-19 serving with two aces and Tegan Baloun 15-16 with two aces. Mirah Martinmaas added 15 assists, Baloun nine assists, Kelli Stoecker six kills and three solo and one block assist and Carley Cotton 18 digs.
