THURSDAY PREP ROUNDUP: CHBC girls defeat Martinsville; Effingham boys, girls pick up victories

Dec. 1—COWDEN — The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats defeated Martinsville, 63-17, at Cowden-Herrick High School.

Macee Rodman led CHBC (5-3) with 17 points.

Ruby Stuckemeyer had 13 points, including a three-pointer that enlightened the crowd and her teammates. Koda Colman had eight. Shaelyn Nohren had seven. Baya Fingo had six. Marissa Summers had five. Karlee Smith had four and Averie Vaughn had three, all coming off a buzzer-beating three-pointer in the fourth.

Effingham 65, Mt. Vernon 63

The Effingham Flaming Hearts defeated Mt. Vernon, 65-63, at Mt. Vernon High School.

Sidney Donaldson led Effingham (6-1) with 17 points.

Averie Wolfe had 14 points. Bria Beals had 11. Alyssa Martin had seven. Saige Althoff had six and Olivia Moser and Bella Austin each had five.

Effingham (St. Anthony) 72, Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor 48

The St. Anthony Bulldogs defeated the Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor Hatchets, 72-48, at the Enlow Center.

Stacie Vonderheide led St. Anthony (7-1, 2-0 National Trail Conference) with 25 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

Nancy Ruholl had 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and four steals. Adysen Rios had 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Kallie Kabbes had eight points and six rebounds and Ava Faber had seven points, two assists and one steal.

As for Stewardson-Strasburg (4-5, 0-3 NTC), Ella Kinkelaar led with 12 points.

Samantha Hayes had 11 points. Ellie Wittenberg had nine. Katelyn VonBehrens had seven. Kendra Hayes had six and Morgan Mathis had three.

Teutopolis 74, Benton 69

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes defeated Benthon, 74-69, at J.H. Griffin Gym.

Malea Helmink led Teutopolis (2-3) with 17 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one assist.

Anna Probst had 15 points, two rebounds and one steal. Chloe Probst had 15 points, five rebounds and five steals. Summer Wall had 11 points and two steals. Isabelle Zerrusen had five points and two rebounds. Mollie Ruholl had four points, one steal and one assist. Jersey Gaddis had three points and Kesley Niemerg and Allie Ruholl each had two points.

Dieterich 44, Brownstown/St. Elmo 17

The Dieterich Movin Maroons defeated the Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers, 44-17, at Dieterich High School.

Miley Britton led Dieterich (6-3, 1-2 National Trail Conference) with 12 points.

Kady Tegeler had 11 points. Ruby Westendorf had eight. Brittney Niemerg had five. Estella Meinhart had four and Addison Miller and Sammi Goebel each had two.

As for BSE (6-2, 1-1 NTC), Madi Miller led with six points.

Addie Sasse had five points. Abbi Ledbetter had four and Dayana Haslett had two.

Neoga 58, Louisville (North Clay) 49

The Neoga Indians defeated the North Clay Lady Cardinals, 58-49, at North Clay High School.

Haylee Campbell led Neoga (5-1, 2-0 National Trail Conference) with 24 points.

Brynn Richards and Allison Sampson each had 10 points. Malory Henderson and Atalie Osborn each had five and Gracie Eaton had four.

As for North Clay (4-4, 0-2 NTC), Miah Ballard led with 31 points.

Alexis VanDyke had eight points. Matia Price had four and Sydney Kincaid, Ava Fleener and Leah Wetherholt each had two.

Toledo (Cumberland) 60, Palestine [Coop] 33

The Cumberland Lady Pirates defeated Palestine, 60-33, at Palestine High School.

Katelyn Shoemaker led Cumberland (3-5) with 14 points.

Suzy Fritts and Mia Holsapple each had eight points. Alysa Dittamore had seven. Jadalyn Sowers had six. Paige Dittamore had five and Hannah Shoemaker had four.

Paris 41, Newton 31

The Newton Lady Eagles fell to Paris, 41-31, at Newton High School.

Camryn Martin led Newton (3-3, 0-2 Little Illini Conference) with nine points, six rebounds and two assists.

Lilly Kessler had eight points, nine rebounds and three steals. Karasyn Martin had six points, three assists and two steals. Elley Bennett had six points, four rebounds and three steals and Allie Hermann had two points.

Farina (South Central) 60, Bluford (Webber) 46

The South Central Lady Cougars defeated Bluford (Webber), 60-46, at Webber High School.

Taegan Webster led South Central (2-3) with 31 points.

Brooke Cowger had 11 points. Kaitlyn Swift and Lauren Johnson each had eight and Percilla Reid had four.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Effingham 39, Taylorville 35

The Effingham Flaming Hearts defeated Taylorville, 39-35, at Effingham High School.

Cannon Bockhorn led Effingham (2-4) with 14 points.

Ethan Jones had nine points. Nolan Fearday and KJ Kellams each had five. Hayden Wendling had four and Spencer Fox had two.
