Three Rivers cross country teams sweep Sturgis

THREE RIVERS — Three Rivers and Sturgis ran a cross country race on Tuesday that was impacted heavily by rain. While the severe weather stayed clear of Meyer Broadway Park, the water still came down in droves and had an influence on runners.

Three Rivers won both of the girl's races, beating Plainwell 27-30 and Sturgis 25-30. The Trojans also lost to Plainwell, 26-29. In the boy's races, Sturgis lost to Three Rivers 22-39 and Plainwell 18-38, Three Rivers also lost to Plainwell, 19-36.

Berkley Holtz of Sturgis ran to first place as the meet champion for the girls. Her time was 19:59 as she was the only female runner to break the 20-minute mark. Sturgis' Tessa Hatt finished sixth overall at 22:57 and Kenzie Eicher came in ninth place with a Top 10 time of 23:27.

Kylie Brooks posted a time of 24:55 for 14th, Naidelin Luna-Bucio ran a time of 25:27 for 17th and Graycee Cloutier came in 20th at 25:51. Sturgis also got runs of Juliet Mendoza Rangel in 22nd at 26:07, Paityn Modert in 25th at 26:31, Nathalie Garcia Ruiz in 28th at 28:02 and Stephany Cue in 32nd at 28:48.

Three Rivers was led by Jenny Hernandez in third place at 22:04. Lillie Kerr ran a time of 22:49 for fifth place while Emily Ventrone came in seventh at 22:59 and Anezka Pradna finished 10th at 23:47. Gabrielle Kilbourn ran a time of 24:18 for 12th, Savannah Headley came in 13th at 24:54.

The Sturgis boys were led by Nolan Park in fourth place at 17:59. Zachary Green ran to ninth place at 18:59 while Benjamin Morales finished 17th at 20:16. Caleb Hohn's time of 20:42 was good for 19th while Ben Moses came in 22nd at 21:17, Gage PeDue was 23rd at 21:20 and Henry Ebert ran a time of 21:31 for 24th.

Niko Morales came in 27th at 21:41 and Trey Pant was 40th at 26:27.

Three Rivers was led by Sullivan Zietlow in second place at 16:57. Jonah Zietlow finished eighth overall with a time of 18:56 while Jacob Howes ran a time of 19:02 for 10th. Reece Howes came in 11th at 19:04, Isaac Perez was 12th at 19:20, Charlie Brauer finished 13th at 19:33.
