That's a wrap: ALAH football finishes off undefeated regular season

Oct. 20—Normal West 40

Centennial 24

NORMAL — Centennial led 10-0 at the end of the first quarter, but couldn't slow down the Wildcats the rest of the night in a Big 12 road loss.

Kodiac Pruitt rushed for 104 yards on 14 carries to lead the Chargers, who struggled with turnovers. Kellen Davis completed 7 of 24 passes against Normal West (7-2), throwing three interceptions. Davis finished with 107 passing yards and two touchdowns to go along with 56 rushing yards on six carries and one touchdown.

Karson Kaiser (two catches for 38 yards) and Anthony Caceres (two catches for 37 yards) each caught a touchdown pass for Centennial.

Danville 71

Urbana 0

URBANA — Entering Week 6, Danville needed to win its final three regular-season games if the Vikings wanted a shot a the playoffs. Mission accomplished.

The Vikings capped their late-season run of success with a convincing Big 12 road win against the Tigers at McKinley Field. Danville led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter before the Vikings (5-4) rattled off 49 points in a dominating second quarter, thanks in large part to its defense, to take a 63-0 lead into halftime against Urbana (0-9).

Javaughn Robinson returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the second quarter, with teammates Jayden Rowell and Jerry Reed III also returning interceptions for touchdowns in the first half. Other big plays that worked out well for the Vikings included a 70-yard touchdown run by Caleb Robinson, a 69-yard touchdown run by Phil Shaw IV and a 33-yard touchdown pass from Darius Jay to A'jani Davis.

St. Joseph-Ogden 50

Paxton-Buckley-Loda 21

PAXTON — Logan Smith was difficult to stop, accounting for every SJ-O touchdown to lead the visiting Spartans to an Illini Prairie Conference road win.

Smith completed 15 of 20 passes for 252 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 43 rushing yards on seven carries and three rushing touchdowns for SJ-O (7-2) in its third straight win. Justice Wertz also provided a nice complement, rushing for 101 yards on 15 carries.

Tanner Siems had six catches for 86 yards, Coy Taylor made four catches for 71 yards and Tim Blackburn-Kelley had five catches for 65 yards. Rowan Musselman, Garrett Denhart and Colin Wayland each came down with an interception for the Spartans.

Robert Boyd-Meents rushed for 56 yards and caught four passes for 52 yards for PBL (5-4).

Bloomington Central Catholic 22

Prairie Central 15

FAIRBURY — Prairie Central had a chance to hand Bloomington Central Catholic its first loss, but the host Saints rallied for an Illini Prairie win.

Leading 15-7 at halftime, the Hawks (5-4) could not get on the scoreboard in the second half against the unbeaten Saints (9-0), who won the Illini Prairie championship.

Hudson Ault rushed for 152 yards on 23 carries and one touchdown for Prairie Central, sprinting 85 yards for his lone score that tied the game at 7 midway through the first quarter. A 1-yard touchdown run by Avery Elder and subsequent two-point conversion pass from Tyler Curl and Kael Marchetti gave the Hawks a 15-7 lead early in the second quarter. Elder finished 7 of 12 for 90 passing yards, with Curl making four catches for 50 yards.

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 54

Oakwood 16

BISMARCK — The host Blue Devils took a 22-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a Vermilion Valley Conference win that knocked Oakwood out of the playoffs. Karson Stevenson threw six touchdown passes and completed 16 of 27 for 379 yards, with Chaz Dubois returning an interception 60 yards for a touchdown and Ayden Ingram bringing a kickoff back 78 yards for a touchdown to lead BHRA (7-2).

Dubois finished with four receptions for 135 yards and three touchdowns, with Ingram hauling in five catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Harley Grimm returned a fumble 57 yards for a touchdown and also recorded a safety to lead Oakwood (4-5).

Westville 52

Iroquois West 24

WESTVILLE — Much like other teams this season, Iroquois West had no answer for Westville quarterback Drew Wichtowski. Wichtowski rushed for 289 yards on 13 carries and four touchdowns and completed 6 of 9 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Tigers (8-1) to a VVC home win at Memorial Field.

Wichtowski also shined defensively against the Raiders (3-6), making six tackles, including four for loss.

Salt Fork 47

Clifton Central 19

CATLIN — The host Storm led 28-6 at halftime and didn't let up in a VVC home win at Byerly/Hageman Field.

Salt Fork (7-2) won its third straight game, relying on a balanced offense to knock Clifton Central (4-5) out of the playoffs. Kam Keller rushed for 140 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns, with Jameson Remole completing 8 of 11 passes for 125 yards and three touchdowns.

Grant Wilson was Remole's favorite target, bringing in six receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. Keller and Payton Hageman also caught touchdown passes.

Tuscola 80

Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville 0

TUSCOLA — Tuscola left little doubt in securing playoff eligibility with a convincing nonconference home win at Memorial Field. The Warriors (5-4) won their third straight game, darting out to a 34-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 60-0 at halftime.

Jordan Quinn went 8 of 12 for 217 passing yards and four touchdowns to spark Tuscola. Austin Cummings caught three passes — all for touchdowns — and finished with 123 receiving yards for the Warriors. Parker James also added 70 receiving yards on four catches, highlighted by a 58-yard touchdown reception.

Dylan Graves led the Warriors on the ground with 149 rushing yards on eight carries, scoring on touchdown runs of 6, 36 and 80 yards.

Heyworth 16

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 6

HEYWORTH — The visiting Falcons led 6-3 at halftime and had a chance to win a Heart of Illinois Conference Small outright title, but couldnt' close out a road win.

Because of the loss, GCMS (6-3) tied with LeRoy and Heyworth for a three-way tie atop the league standings.

Aiden Sancken rushed for 66 yards on 10 carries and Jacob Chase contributed 62 rushing yards on 12 carries, including an 11-yard touchdown run for the Falcons.

Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 42

Sullivan/Okaw Valley 13

ARTHUR — Sullivan/Okaw Valley struck first, but Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond struck last.

And the Lincoln Prairie Conference championship is just the Knights to celebrate.

ALAH (9-0) completed an undefeated regular season by handing visiting Sullivan/OV (8-1) its first loss of the season. After Sullivan/OV went ahead 13-12 in the second quarter on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Cooper Christensen to Aiden Ballinger, the Knights scored the next 30 points to cruise to the win.

Jayce Parsons shined for ALAH, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for two touchdowns. Landon Waldrop and Maddix Stirrett also chipped in rushing touchdowns.

Villa Grove 60

Tri-County 20

OAKLAND — A close Lincoln Prairie game broke in favor of Villa Grove when the Blue Devils outscored Tri-County 32-0 in the third quarter en route to a road win.

Gunner Cline rushed for 137 yards on 11 carries and four touchdowns for Villa Grove (6-3) in its fifth consecutive win. Layne Rund completed 10 of 14 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown, connecting with five different receivers. Rund also added two rushing touchdowns.

Kyler Williams (three catches for 44 yards), Braydon Dowler (two catches for 54 yards) and Noah Wilcoxin (two catches for 45 yards, touchdown) also contributed.

Clay Kibler rushed for 62 yards on 23 carries with one touchdown and Myles Watson added 42 rushing yards on 10 carries with one touchdown for the Titans (0-9).
