Texas WR Adonai Mitchell projected to Cowboys in latest NFL mock draft
Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell improved his draft stock at the NFL Combine last week and likely solidified himself as a first-round prospect.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound pass catcher ran a 4.34 40-yard dash. It’s rare for a player of his size to accomplish that feat.
“Mitchell ran .13 seconds slower than his Texas teammate, but also weighed 40 pounds more. His size and athletic profile are that of a top-flight pass catcher in the NFL,” said John Breech of CBS Sports after the combine.
Many NFL draft analysts project Mitchell to fall within the 25-40 pick range when the draft kicks off on April 25. In Blogging The Boys latest mock draft, Mitchell lands in Dallas with the No. 31 pick after the Cowboys traded back with the San Francisco 49ers.
Xavier Worthy may have stole some of his thunder running a 4.21 40-yard dash, however, Adonai Mitchell running a 4.35 40-yard dash at 6’2″, 205-pounds is a feat in itself. There are very few receivers who have been able to run that fast at his size. On top of that, he’s also a nuanced route runner and legitimate deep threat as well as a really good 50/50 ball catcher. He is one of the more complete WRs in the entire 2024 draft class and would be an excellent pairing with CeeDee Lamb as a No. 2 with the Dallas Cowboys.
Mitchell formally met with the Cowboys at the combine and be an immediate upgrade over wide receiver Michael Gallup.
In his lone season as a Longhorn in 2023, Mitchell recorded 55 receptions for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 15.4 yards per catch.
