Texas men's basketball will host St. Edward's in free exhibition match at Moody Center

The past and present for Texas men’s basketball coach Rodney Terry will meet Oct. 30 when the Longhorns host St. Edward’s in an exhibition match.

Terry, a native of Angleton south of Houston, starred for St. Edward’s a generation ago before graduating in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. During his playing time with the Hilltoppers, Terry started three seasons and earned three academic Al-Big State Conference honors.

St. Edward’s won the Big State Conference title during Terry’s freshman season in 1986-87, and Terry also served as team captain during his junior and senior campaigns. Terry started his coaching career at St. Edward’s, where he worked one season after graduation moving on to a job as an assistant coach for legendary high school coach Celester Collier at Bowie High School in Austin.

The exhibition game will tip off at 7 p.m. at Moody Center. The free contest will not be part of UT’s season-ticket package for the upcoming season.
