Texas A&M Football Recruiting: several 2024 prospects recently placed the Aggies in their Top program lists

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class quite literally exploded (in a good way) in the last two weeks of June, as the now 13th-ranked class, according to 247Sports team rankings, adding the likes of WR Drelon Miller, OT Weston Davis, LB Tyanthony Smith, Edge Gabriel Reliford since Monday, and to kick off July, four-star wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby committed to Aggies on Saturday afternoon.

So far, 15 prospects, including two quarterbacks, three wide receivers, three offensive linemen, one tight end, two defensive linemen, one safety, and three, and yes, three blue-chip linebackers, which is certainly a sight for sore eyes for every Aggie fan reading this. With full steam ahead, Jimbo Fisher and his staff set their sights on several priority prospects, including five-star wide receiver prospects Terry Bussey and Cam Coleman, who remain slight favorites to land with the Aggies when all is said and done.

Last week amid the flurry of commitments, several blue-chip prospects in the 2024 cycle released their top program lists. By the looks of it, nothing is Fisher as July presents a litany of opportunities to continue this momentum ride. Here are five 2024 prospects who recently placed Texas A&M in their top program lists.

2024 Five-star WR, Terry Bussey

Bussey’s high school stats during his 2022 junior season at Timpson High School in Timpson, Texas, are just insane; throwing for 2,177 yards and 26 touchdowns with a 64% completion percentage as the starting quarterback while rushing for 2,596 yards and 46 touchdowns with a 14-yard per rush average. Bussey recorded over 115 tackles and five interceptions as a two-way player, with four returned for touchdowns as a defensive back.

Speed, agility, and football intelligence gained from his position versatility have placed Bussey as the 15th-ranked player in the class, the No.1-ranked Athlete, and the No.2-ranked player in Texas.

2024 Four-star Athlete, Jalewis Solomon

According to 247Sports Composite ratings, Solomon is currently positioned as the 17th-ranked Athlete and the 29th-ranked player in Georgia. As a highly versatile two-way player, Solomon reeled in 86 receptions for 1,210 yards and ten touchdowns while recording 29 tackles, four PBU, and three interceptions on defense during his 2022 junior season at Schley County High School in Ellaville, Georgia.

2024 Three-star Cornerback, Devon Jordan

According to 247Sports Composite, Jordan is currently positioned as Oklahoma’s 3rd ranked player and the 36th-ranked cornerback in the 2024 cycle. Recently taking an unofficial visit to College Station on June 23, Jordan’s 2022 junior campaign was highly productive, as he recorded 43 tackles (34 solo), six pass deflections, two interceptions, and two tackles for loss. Outside of football, Jordan is a Track & Field standout.

2024 Four-star Athlete, Derrick McFall

According to 247Sports, McFall is positioned as the 25th-ranked Athlete, and the 48th-ranked player in Texas.

Expected to shift to the running back position at the collegiate level, McFalls’ 5-10 175-pound frame fits the mold of today’s back, who is also a threat in the passing game and efficient in pass protection. His rare athletic traits, combined with his second-gear speed and initial quickness paired with top-notch football intelligence, are why McFall is one of the most sought-after prospects in Texas.

2024 Four-star Tight end, Caleb Odom

Odom is currently positioned as the 67th-ranked player in the 2024 cycle, the 4th-ranked tight end, and the 11th-ranked player in Georgia, according to 247Sports Composite. After releasing his final Top 5 school list ahead of his July announcement, a litany of blue-chip programs made the cut, including Alabama, Miami, Ole Miss, Florida, and Texas A&M, who recently hosted Odom on June 16.

Standing at 6-5 and 215 pounds, he has received over 33 offers, including his final program list, and Texas A&M remains in stiff competition; Odom’s potential as a seam buster and versatile receiving options proves that the tight end position has morphed into a hybrid outside wide receiver, which can also in-line block.

2024 Three-star Edge Solomon Williams

According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 28th-ranked Edge and the 48th-ranked player in Florida. During his 2022 Junior season, Williams showed off his speed, strength, and pass-rushing prowess, racking up 61 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, and 15.5 sacks as a member of Carrollwood Day in Tampa, Florida.
