Texas Longhorns kicker Bert Auburn makes school history against Texas Tech
It’s hard to make history at a school that has produced NFL kickers like Phil Dawson, Justin Tucker, Cameron Dicker and Russell Erxleben. But that’s exactly what Texas kicker Bert Auburn did with a 37-yard field goal in the first half against Texas Tech.
With the kick that gave Texas a 20-7 lead, Auburn set new school records with his 15th consecutive field goal as well as his 25th field goal of the season. Dawson and Anthony Fera had shared the record for consecutive field goals while Hunter Lawrence had held the record for most field goals in a season.

Auburn, a third-year kicker from Flower Mound outside of Dallas, has made 28 of 33 field goals this season after going 5-for-5 in the 57-7 win over Texas Tech on Friday. The five field goals in one game ties a school record held by several kickers.
After last week’s win over Iowa State, Auburn said his individual goal for the season is to earn first-team all-Big 12 honors.
“I hope so,” Auburn said. “The Big 12’s known for always having good kickers, and I'm hoping I can do at least better than last year. I think it was an honorable mention last year, so hopefully I can be better than that.”
Auburn also credited a Texas offense that racked up 528 yards against Texas Tech for giving him the opportunities to make history.
"It's just that's because our offense is good," he said. "I mean, I know people talk about us getting stopped in the red zone and all that stuff, but we're getting down there a bunch. Really, it's all because of them (the offense)."
