Terry Bussey discusses Tennessee offer, upcoming visit

Tennessee offered 2024 five-star athlete Terry Bussey on March 13.

The 5-foot-10.5, 180-pound athlete is from Timpson High School in Timpson, Texas.

Bussey discussed his recruitment with Vols Wire.

“They stand in a good spot with me right now,” Bussey said about Tennessee. “So far they’ve been great to me, and getting to know the coaches is what’s standing out. It’s been great getting to know them more and them getting to know me.”

Bussey has developed a relationship with running backs coach Jerry Mack, recruiting analyst Roman Goode and wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope.

He is the No. 17 overall prospect in the class of 2024. Bussey ranks as the No. 1 athlete and No. 4 player in Texas, according to 247Sports.

Bussey finished his junior season with 2,177 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, 2,596 rushing yards, 46 rushing touchdowns and averaged 14.1 yards per attempt. He also played defensive back for Timpson and finished the season with 115 tackles, five interceptions and four defensive touchdowns.

“I see myself fitting anywhere on the football field,” he said. “Anywhere I’m needed to win is where I’ll play.”

Bussey also expressed interest in playing offense and defense in college.

He was named the Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year and Mr. Texas Football by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football last season. Bussey also earned first-team MaxPreps Junior All-American honors.

Bussey is planning his first visit to Tennessee during the spring.

“I’ll be down there on April 14 for their spring practice,” he said. “I want to see the place and get to know the staff and what the people are like down there.”

Bussey is not rushing his recruitment, but is planning to schedule official visits before making a commitment decision in the fall.

“The most important thing for me is a good academic program and a place that feels like home to me,” Bussey said about important factors in his recruitment.
