Tennessee tackle Danny O’Brien is “doing okay”

According to sources, Tennessee Volunteer defensive tackle Danny O’Brien is well enough to make the flight back home to Knoxville after a scary moment during the loss to Texas A&M. CBS sideline reporter Allie LaForce was the first to report.

O’Brien was involved in a helmet-to-helmet collision with running back Keith Ford of Texas A&M at College Station today. He lay motionless on field for several minutes with members of both teams taking a knee.

The senior tackle was strapped to a board and taken off the field in a cart. Officials associated with the team told CBS that he was moving all of his extremities but there was no more information on an injury.

The conference game between Tennessee and Texas A&M had a number of injuries that required stoppages in the game. The Volunteers are already dealing with a couple of injuries including running back Jalen Hurd, a key player on offense.

Tennessee faces a tough test against the Alabama Crimson Tide next week and may not have Hurd or O’Brien in the trenches to help.
