Who has two thumbs and wants to become text-message buddies with you?

This guy.

That's right, y'all. My bosses at The Tennessean are launching a cool, new service for our subscribers – and disregarding better judgment by putting it in my hands.

Sign up now

It's a new text-message group. It'll be simple to join (and to leave). It'll offer direct access to me and my experiences as a sports columnist covering a wide range of teams in Nashville and Tennessee. Readers can receive these regular, exclusive text updates as a part of their subscription to The Tennessean. It'll be kind of like the columns I write, only in a miniature, more personal version.

And you are invited. Dig in. Ask questions. Get additional insight and a glimpse into my weird little world.

It'll be a lot of fun.

Here's what it will not be:

► This won't be annoying. I won't be buzzing you all the time for no reason. I'm thinking maybe 1 to 2 texts per day. Plus, you'll have the ability to filter texts you receive based on which teams (Titans? Preds? Vols? Vandy? Nashville SC?) you are – or are not – interested in hearing about.

► This won't be a group project. I'll see your responses, and you'll see my texts but not everyone else's (unless I share someone's message). No other subscriber will be able to see your phone number, and you won't see theirs.

► This won't be boring. My job is a lot of things, folks, but it's not boring. That's why I'm so excited about this. It's great to have a new way to share with readers what I love about what I do.

So let's give this a try, shall we?

Click here to sign up for the service. We'll only use this number to text you updates from Gentry and will never sell your number it or give it to a third party.
