Teays Valley's Maxwell Spencer is Ohio State Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week

In a vote that ended Sept. 29, Dispatch.com readers selected the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week for competitions that took place from before Sept. 18.

This week's winner is Teays Valley soccer and football player Maxwell Spencer.

During a 45-7 football win over Circleville on Friday, Spencer was 6 for 6 on extra points and kicked a 41-yard field goal. He is 19 for 19 on PATs and 4 of 5 on field goals. In a soccer win over Newark on Saturday, he had three goals (all in the first half) and two assists. On Wednesday in a 2-1 win over Bloom-Carroll, he scored the game-winning goal and assisted on the other. He has 14 goals and 10 assists this season.

Spencer received 42.2% of the vote and was followed by Grove City Christian football player Cayden Carroll, who received 16.1%, Hartley volleyball player Kaylee Musick (13.2%), Grandview Heights football player Braddock Lusher (11%), Dublin Jerome cross country runner Natalie Fouts (7.8%), Hartley football player Ryan Perry (5.1%) and Watterson football player A.J. McAninich (2.5%).

Carroll, the runner-up, rushed for 275 yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries and had 10 tackles in a 37-27 win over Corning Miller.

Musick had 41 kills, 29 assists, 24 digs and seven blocks in wins over Sheridan and Watterson.

Lusher rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries, had a 37-yard reception and had eight tackles (including 2 for loss) and a sack in a 41-30 win over Whetstone.

Fouts took second place in the Celtic Clash with a time of 17:40. Her time was a school record and a personal record by more than 40 seconds.

Perry had five catches for 114 yards in a 35-7 loss to Watterson.

McAninich completed 23 of 30 passes for 283 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-7 win over Hartley.
