Tearful pitcher shares a heartfelt hug with his dad after his long-awaited MLB debut

Everything comes to those who wait, so they say. And 23-year-old Grayson Rodriguez is a testament to that.

The pitcher, who grew up watching the Texas Rangers, had a rocky road to baseball’s big leagues, enduring disappointment and rejection along the way. The one constant in his life was his family, especially his dad, Gilbert, who even built a baseball field in the family’s back to help Grayson in his tee-ball days.

So, when Rodriguez finally got his chance, making his Major League Baseball debut for the Baltimore Orioles against the Rangers, his dad was the first person he reached for to share his triumph.
