Tampa Bay Lightning season to kick off with free Big Boi concert

Hey ya! Big Boi is going to kick off the Tampa Bay Lightning’s season with a free show next month.

Best known as half of the hip-hop duo Outkast alongside André 3000, he will headline a free show on Tuesday, Oct. 10, as part of the Lightning’s pregame party.

Starting at 1 p.m. for the Bolts home opener, there will be a daylong extravaganza celebrating the kickoff of the 2023-24 Lightning and NHL season, live on ESPN.

The puck drops at 5:30 p.m. but there is an entire day of festivities planned including food and beverage specials, a Lightning Player Blue Carpet Walk on Ford Thunder Alley, and the performance by Big Boi.

“Throughout the afternoon, fans will have the chance to win more than $10,000 in giveaways, including tickets to 2023-24 regular season Lightning games,” according to a team news release.

The Big Boi performance takes place at 3:15 p.m. at the Ford Thunder Alley stage, located at 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa, before the Lightning take on the Nashville Predators. The team has also posted hints that he will be part of the post-game concert.
