Tallahassee-Leon Babe Ruth Baseball to induct quartet into organization's Hall of Fame
The Tallahassee-Leon Babe Ruth Baseball Alumni Foundation will hold its annual golf tournament and Hall of Fame banquet at the Golf Club at Summerbrooke Monday, Oct. 30.
The event will honor the inductees of the 2023 Hall of Fame class - Aaron Gerteisen, Brad Parker, Mackey Sasser and Harvey Sweeney - and raise money for scholarships and other Foundation causes.
Openings remain for the four-person golf scramble/banquet ($100 per person) and banquet-only tickets ($20) are available for purchase. Sponsorships also can still be secured.
Golf starts at 1 p.m. and the dinner at 6 p.m.
Gerteisen, Parker and Sasser, who also played nine years in the Major Leagues, are former players in TLBR. Sweeney helped build the foundation of TLBR as a coach and league president.
Gerteisen played at Leon High, Tallahassee Community College and in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He is a Leon High and TCC Hall of Famer.
Parker, a member of the 1984 TLBR World Series team, played at Leon, Florida State, Auburn and in the Oakland A's organization.
After his MLB playing days, Sasser was named the baseball coach and athletic director at Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama. He retired following the 2022 season after 25 years with the program.

Tallahassee-Leon County Babe Ruth Baseball is a non-profit organization that administers and promotes advanced play baseball for players 13-15 years-old in Leon County.
The organization has been in Tallahassee for nearly seven decades, producing Major League players - and TLBR Hall of Famers - David Ross, Dean Palmer, Reggie Jefferson, John Wasdin and others.
Florida State and Tallahassee Community College's head coaches Link Jarrett and Bryan Henry are also TLBR alumni and HOF members.
