Takeaways and observations from Eagles 38-35 win over Lions in Week 1

The Eagles kicked off the 2022 season with another victory, this time a 38-35 road victory against the Detroit Lions in front of a sold-out crowd at Ford Field.

Philadelphia is now 10-2 in Week 1 games since 2010, and head coach Nick Sirianni is currently undefeated in season openers.

The Eagles’ defense left a lot to be desired from an overall effort, but they did enough to win, and the team will now look towards a huge Monday night tilt against the Vikings.

Here are takeaways, observations, and notes from Week 1.

Philadelphia always opens the season up well, and the Birds moved to 10-2 in season openers since 2010.

Hurts finished with 243 passing yards and 90 rushing yards, plus a touchdown, and dropped a beautiful dime to A.J. Brown.

It wasn’t his most eye-catching performance, but it’s what franchise quarterbacks are supposed to do on the road.
