This past Wednesday was special for both Battle and senior guard Nautica Washington.

Not only did the Spartans come away with a 63-62 victory over Vashon on the road, but Washington led the way with 30 points to go along with six rebounds. To make the victory even sweeter, Washington was honored by her teammates and coaching staff for collecting her 1,000th career point. She’s been a crucial part of the Spartans success this year as the team finished their second consecutive winning season for the first time in school history.

Battle will take a five-game winning streak into district play. The Spartans, seeded third, will face off against Liberty (Wentzville) this upcoming Wednesday. Both teams will tip off at 8:30 p.m. at Francis Howell High School in St. Charles, Missouri.

Hickman and Rock Bridge both bounce back ahead of Districts

Like Battle, Boone County’s other Class 6 schools ended the regular season on a high note.

Rock Bridge claimed the Central Missouri Activities Conference title with a 74-49 win over Helias Catholic, wrapping up a 21-5 season. It was a bounce-back victory after falling to Lutheran St. Charles three days prior. Hickman ended a two-game losing skid by defeating Jefferson City 58-36 on senior night.

The Bruins and Spartans will participate in the Class 6, District 7 Tournament in Blue Springs on Wednesday. One-seeded Rock Bridge will take on eighth-seeded Blue Springs at 4 p.m. while two-seeded Hickman faces off against seventh-seeded Fort Osage at 7 p.m.

Centralia claims Districts

Centralia survived and advanced on Friday, continuing its second consecutive 20-win season.

Two days after defeating Tolton, the Panthers faced and successfully took down Montgomery County at home 47-39. Centralia led throughout all four quarters for the title. Shelby Lewis and Braylin Brunkhorst led the way with 11 points, while Ryenn Gordon added 10. Centralia will face off against California in the Class 3 Sectional Round. Both teams will tip off at 6 p.m. on Monday at California High School.
