Syracuse Mets sweep doubleheader with Columbus Clippers
Sunday's games: Syracuse 5, Columbus 4; Syracuse 8, Columbus 6;
Recap: Saturday's game was rained out, so the Clippers and Mets played a doubleheader on Sunday. In the first game, Syracuse used a four-run sixth inning to take a 5-3 lead, then held on for the win. Rylan Bannon and Jose Eglesias hit two-run homers for the Mets in the sixth. Xzavion Curry (0-2) pitched in relief of Sam Hentges and allowed five runs on six hits in five innings. The Clippers were held to three hits, including solo home runs by Kyle Manzardo and Bryan Lavastida. In the second game, Carlos Cortes and Luisangel Acuna homered as the Mets built a 8-4 lead and held on. Daniel Schneemann was 3 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs for the Clippers. Jhonkensy Noel also homered.
