SUNY Oneonta rolls past Buffalo State in men's, women's hoops

Jan. 29—The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team rode a red-hot offensive performance to a 101-84 home win over Buffalo State Saturday.

Seven Red Dragon players scored at least nine points in the win, with Xavier Hill's 22 points leading the way.

Also scoring in double figures for Oneonta were PJ Laidley with 17, Caleb Brown and Daniel Penubothula with 11 apiece and Tyler Harts with 10.

Oneonta (9-10 overall, 6-5 SUNYAC) will be at SUNY Cortland Tuesday.

Vermont State Johnson 58, SUNY Delhi 57 (Saturday)

SUNY Delhi dropped a close 58-57 decision to Vermont State Johnson Saturday.

Lester McCarthy was the Broncos' top scorer with 22 points to go with six rebounds.

Elsewhere, Warren Davis had 11 points and seven rebounds while Isiah Barnes notched eight points and five assists.

Delhi (10-9) will host SUNY Morrisville Tuesday.

St. John Fisher 96, Hartwick 71 (Saturday)

The Hartwick men fell to St. John Fisher 96-71 on the road Saturday.

Daniel Oyedrian scored 19 points to lead the Hawks while Henry Perkins had 13 points and eight rebounds, Brian Bonin had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds and Shea Barber scored 10 points.

Hartwick (1-16 overall, 0-10 Empire 8) will host Utica this Friday.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

SUNY Oneonta 57, Buffalo State 26 (Saturday)

The SUNY Oneonta women rolled to a 57-26 victory over Buffalo State Saturday.

Amanda Zuntag led the Red Dragons with 21 points and five rebounds while Nadia Brown scored 14 points and Jenna Harclerode notched a double-double of 11 points and 17 rebounds.

Oneonta's defense held Buffalo State to just 13% shooting in the game.

The Red Dragons (8-10 overall, 6-5 SUNYAC) will visit SUNY Cortland Tuesday.

St. John Fisher 87, Hartwick 39 (Saturday)

Hartwick couldn't keep up with St. John Fisher in an 87-39 loss on Saturday.

Isabella Astorino led the Hawks with 12 points to go with eight rebounds. Hartwick was held to just 25% shooting from the field.

Hartwick (6-12 overall, 4-6 Empire 8) will be at SUNY Morrisville Tuesday.

The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team was at Wilkes University for the John Reese Duals last weekend, where the Red Dragons went 1-2.

Oneonta defeated Penn. College of Technology 24-21 and fell to Springfield 31-16 and Wilkes 34-16.

Winning against Penn Tech were Billy Colloca (125 pounds), Kenneth Sauer (174), Carson LiCastri (197), Max Yahre (157) and James DeLucia (184)

Yahre, Sauer, LiCastri and Anderson Klosner (149) each won against Springfield, while Colloca, Peter Sacco (141) and Aydin DeForest (165) were winners against Wilkes.

Oneonta will be at the Ithaca Quad meet this Saturday.
