Bradley Beal's 43 drives Phoenix Suns' rout of his former team Washington Wizards

Bradley Beal scored a season-high 43 points to lead the Phoenix Suns 140-112 over Washington Wizards on Sunday.

With the win, Phoenix finishes the seven-game road trip 4-3 and bounces back from a loss to Atlanta on Friday. Washington extended its losing streaks to three games and 11 at home.

Beal put on a shooting clinic against his former team. He had 41 through the first three quarters, hit an astounding 76%, including four made 3s, added six assists, two rebounds, and two steals. After Beal made his final shot to push the Suns’ lead to 30 with nine minutes left to play, Suns coach Frank Vogel pulled out the nose-broken star for the rest of the game less than a minute later.

Washington D.C. native Kevin Durant and Jusuf Nurkic each added 18 points for Phoenix, and Nurkic nearly had a triple-double with a game-high 13 rebounds and eight assists. Devin Booker had 14 points and six assists.

Phoenix dominated from the onset, and extended its lead quarter over quarter against Washington, the league’s second-worst team (9-34), which has lost 11 straight at home. The Suns played complementary basketball scoring on 33 assists, hit 61.4% FG overall and 11 made from the arc (44%).

Washington starters Deni Avdija scored the team-high 24 points on 10-of-13 FG, Daniel Gafford had 15 on 7-of-7, Tyus Jones had 14 plus matched Nurkic on the game-high eight assists, and former Suns guard Landry Shamet had 13 on 6-of-10 off the bench.

The Suns play their next two games at home, starting against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

Beal unstoppable, Nurkic near triple-double in 3rd quarter

This has been The Bradley Beal Show in his return to Washington, scoring his season-high 41 points to help extend the Suns' largest lead 116-86 over his former team.

He scored 15, added three of his total six assists in the third, and has shot 15-of-20.

Phoenix big Jusuf Nurkic is approaching his career's second triple-double. He had 18 points, game-high 13 rebounds, and eight assists.

Beal still hot, Booker gets 4th foul in 2nd quarter

Bradley Beal continues to lead the Suns' offensive strike as they lead Washington, 79-58 at the break.

He scored 14 of his game-high 26 points shooting lights out on 10-of-14, including 2-of-3 from deep and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. On defense, Beal got half of their four steals in the second quarter.

Phoenix shot a staggering 69%, including 6-of-11 from 3 with 18 assists.

The Suns have scored 15 points of the Wizards' nine turnovers through halftime. Phoenix's lead didn’t yield under nine, which happened twice before seven minutes left. Then they increased their pace and extended their biggest lead to 22 on a mid-range jumpshot by Bol Bol (four points, steal, rebound) approaching the two-minute mark.

Devin Booker (12 points) has four fouls, which included a blocking foul from defending Deni Avdija in the post at 1:16. Then Booker disputed the call and received a technical foul for delay of game for not leaving the court within the time he needed to.

The Washington-born Kevin Durant has 13 points for Phoenix.

Washington's Daniel Gafford and Deni Advija are their team's leading scorers with 15 and 10.

Booker, Beal hot start sets tone for Suns in 1st quarter

Bradley Beal is off to a 6-of-9 shooting start for the game-high 14 points as Phoenix leads Washington, 42-28 to close the opening period.

Beal added three assists, and Devin Booker had 12 points (3-of-4 FG) as well, but got into four trouble with three.

The Suns hit a stellar 5-of-7 early in the first, finished 15-of-24, and led by as much as 16.

Beal gets tribute video from Wizards

Bradley Beal received a warm welcome back at Washington's Capital One Arena during the starting lineups as expected.

The Wizards gave him a one-minute tribute video for his 11 years with the team.

After Washington drafted Beal as a one-and-done out of Florida, he emerged as one of the league's elite scorers, was a three-time All-Star, and left the team as second on its all-time scoring list.

The Suns are starting Devin Booker and Bradley Beal in the backcourt, forwards Grayson Allen and Kevin Durant, plus Jusuf Nurkic at center.

The Wizards will open with Tyus Jones running the point, Jordan Poole at the two, Deni Avdija and Bilal Coulibaly at the three and four, and Daniel Gafford in the middle.

Phoenix native Bagley III out for Wizards

Tempe Corona del Sol product Marvin Bagley III (back) will not dress for Washington against his hometown team.

Bilal Coulibaly (lower back) and Tyus Jones, (ankle) have been upgraded to available for Washington.

Suns at full strength, Wizards' Kuzma out

Phoenix has no one on their pregame injury report except Damion Lee (right meniscus surgery), who's been out all season.

Washington has several players out, including the team's leading scorer Kyle Kuzma (shoulder), Marvin Bagley III (back), and Isaiah Livers (hip). Additional players questionable to play include Washington's assist leader Tyus Jones (right ankle sprain) and Bilal Coulibaly (lower back).
