Sturgis tennis beats Edwardsburg

EDWARDSBURG — The Sturgis tennis team won another Wolverine Conference dual matchup on Monday.

This one came over Edwardsburg, 8-0, which allowed the Trojans to improve to 6-0 in conference duals so far this season.

Sturgis won nearly every game in the matchup, finishing with several matches that finished without the Eddies winning a game.

George Ebert at first singles beat Stephen Linton 6-0, 6-0. Grady Miller at second singles beat Noah Coleman and Christian Perry beat Tyler Hosang at third singles, they each won their matches with scores of 6-0, 6-0 as well.

Preston Gump claimed a 6-3, 6-0 win at fourth singles, he beat Carson Baker.

Sturgis swims to Bearcat Invitational title

In doubles action, Sturgis had little trouble.

The first doubles team of Luke Frost and Drake Harker beat Brady Leep and Brody Halfman with scores of 6-0 and 6-0. Second doubles saw George Bucklin and Carter Oswald cruise to a 6-0, 6-3 win over Caden Manfred and Logan Summy.

Ian Golden and Wyatt Miller beat Cooper Bessinger and Brandon Hosang 6-1, 6-3 for third doubles. In the fourth doubles matchup, Tristan Clark and Brody Currier won over Ryan Buck and Brandon VanOrerbeghe 6-2 and 6-2.

On Saturday, the Trojans traveled to the Big Rapids Tournament and finished third overall as a team.

Grady Miller played to first place overall in his flight. Harker and Frost played to second place overall for their flight at first doubles. Perry also finished second at third singles.
