Stony Point guard Uzziah Buntyn's idea of fun? Going 32-2 on the season, for starters

All about Uzziah: It's good to be King

Tell me the story about your first name.

My first name comes from the Bible. Uzziah was a king in the Bible. That’s also why my middle name is King.

Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Something that a lot of people don’t know about me is probably that I was born in Arizona and didn’t move here until I was 5.

Stony Point guard Uzziah Buntyn was a major piece for a team that went 32-2. He aspires to play college basketball, perhaps for New Mexico State.

What has been your favorite vacation?

My favorite vacation was probably going to New York two years ago with my parents and two sisters. It’s where a lot of my family is from, so it was nice going out there and seeing everything for myself.

If you could travel to any country, where would you go?

I would probably go to Switzerland because I’ve seen a lot of beautiful sights there.

What do you plan to do after high school?

After high school I want to go play college basketball. On the recruiting part, I've had coaches text and call me from schools like South Dakota, Idaho, Yale and some more. So far, I've been offered only by New Mexico State.

For Buntyn, fun is going 32-2 for the season

What do you enjoy most about basketball?

Probably just being with my teammates and building relationships. Basketball is fun to play.

Your team went 32-2 last year. What was your favorite part of the season?

My favorite part of the season was probably at the Waco tournament because we got to stay overnight and it was fun. Other than that, it was probably after our last win to go undefeated in district.

For Uzziah Buntyn, an overnight trip to a tournament in Waco was one of the best parts of his sophomore year. If given a choice, he would like to visit Switzerland someday.

What is your favorite play to make during a game?

My favorite play to make in a game is probably making a no-look pass or making someone fall. I just like how the bench and everyone reacts to it.

Dream dinner: Jesus and the G.O.A.T. at the same table

If you could have dinner with four people in the history of the world, who would they be?

They would probably be Jesus, (rapper) Rod Wave, (Internet personality) Spencer Jennings and MJ (Michael Jordan).

Why did you choose Jesus?

I chose Jesus because, you know, I look up to him, of course.
