Stillman College announces Theresa Berry-Franks as new head volleyball coach

Stillman College announced the hiring of Theresa Berry-Franks as its new women's volleyball head coach.

"We are excited to have Theresa Berry-Franks as our head volleyball coach," Stillman athletic director Terrance Whittle said. "Her experience as a former player, coach and recruiter in the NAIA will serve our program well as we continue to build a solid foundation for the future."

Berry-Franks will succeed interim coach Emiley Madison, who led Stillman's program from October 2022 through December 2023.

Berry-Franks most recently served as the head coach for Bevill State from 2016-2020. She helped to reinstate the program after a five-year hiatus and produced the school's first Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) All-Conference student-athlete since its return. Berry-Franks began her coaching career as a graduate assistant and then full-time assistant at Faulkner University before joining Bevill State when it reinstated its program.

"I have been equally impressed with her ability to build a program from the ground level," Whittle said. "Her energy, enthusiasm and commitment to academic excellence and player accountability will serve our young women well."

A native of Berry, Alabama, Berry-Franks graduated from Faulkner University in 2007 after obtaining her associate's degree from Bevill State in 2004. She was a high-academic student-athlete in both programs, as she was named to the ACCC All-Alabama Academic Team, an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Scholar-Athlete. In 2004, she won the Lea Plarski Award as the NJCAA Student-Athlete of the Year and is a member of the Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame.
