The good from Saturday: Stetson put up a new season-high point total against Davidson.

The problem: The Hatters also allowed the most points they have given up since September 2021.

On an afternoon that included 102 points and 1,060 yards of offense, Stetson fell to the Wildcats 61-41 at Spec Martin Stadium. The loss dropped the Hatters to 3-6 — 1-5 in the Pioneer Football League — and extended their losing streak to three.

Neither team had much defensive success.

Davidson gashed Stetson on the ground, accumulating 483 yards and six touchdowns. The Wildcats averaged 8.6 yards on their 56 carries and added another 155 yards and two scores through the air. They turned the ball over once on a fumble. Mason Sheron (147) and Mari Adams (105) each eclipsed the 100-rushing-yard mark.

The Hatters didn’t present much of a run game, finishing with 21 yards on 22 attempts. Most of their production came via their passing attack.

Graduate student Matt O’Connor started at quarterback and threw two touchdown passes and three interceptions. Junior Brady Meitz subbed in during the second half and tossed three touchdowns with no turnovers. They combined for 401 passing yards. Five Hatters caught touchdown passes.
