Stefon Diggs to join Houston Texans. Here's a look at their new roster
Stefon Diggs is evidently heading to Houston.
The Buffalo Bills are reportedly sending their star receiver to the Texans for a second-round draft pick that Houston had picked up from Minnesota, the latest in a roster remake for a Texans team that made the playoffs last year.
Stefon Diggs trade details
The Houston Texans sent a 2025 second-round pick they acquired from Minnesota for Diggs, who had 1,183 receiving yards last year for Buffalo. Houston also received a 2024 sixth-round pick and 2025 fifth-round pick in the deal. The pick from Minnesota that Houston is trading came to the Texans when they traded their first-round pick this year.
Texans roster
With CJ Stroud coming off a superb rookie campaign, he now has pass catchers Diggs, Nico Collins, Tank Dell and tight end Dalton Schultz to throw to.
The knock on Diggs is that he's 30 and seems to be a year or two past his prime. His role diminished over the course of last season, fueling trade speculation.
Still, this deal sends a clear message Houston is going all in to capitalize on what they see as a Super Bowl window with Stroud.
Other big moves from the Texans this offseason include trading for Cincinnati Bengals tailback Joe Mixon, signing pass-rushing linebacker Danielle Hunter from the Vikings, and signing former All-Pro punter Tommy Townsend from Kansas City. The Texans kept their big free agent targets, most notably Schultz.
Stefon Diggs contract
Diggs is still under contract through the 2027 season. He signed a four-year, $96 million extension with Buffalo after the 2021 season.
Trade grades
ESPN gave Buffalo a C+ and Houston a B for the trade, while USA Today gave both teams Bs. Diggs' departure leaves the Buffalo receivers room barren, though there is an excellent class of receivers in the coming draft.
Houston was lauded for picking up an elite receiver who is making under market value at the moment, but questions about his age and the significant loss of a second-round pick kept it from being an A.
Texans Super Bowl odds
According to the online gambling site DraftKings, Houston's odds to win the Super Bowl dropped to +1700 (bet $100 to win $1,700) from +2500 after the trade.
Stefon Diggs' brother
Diggs' brother Trevon, a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, led the league in interceptions in 2021 but missed last year to injury. Dallas is scheduled to play Houston at AT&T Stadium in Arlington this year, though the schedule and an exact date won't be announced until May.
