New Steelers LB Nick Herbig feels like Pittsburgh is perfect fit

In the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Wisconsin outside linebacker Nick Herbig. There are lots of things to consider there. He will now back up another former Wisconsin linebacker, T.J. Watt. He is also the younger brother of Steelers guard Nate Herbig. Lots of connections.

Herbig was on a conference call just after the pick was announced and sounded elated to be joining his brother and joining the Steelers.

“It feels like the right place for me,” Herbig said. It’s exactly where I want to be. “I feel like they just want me to come in and be a dawg – so that’s what I’m gonna do.”

Steelers outside linebackers coach Denzel Martin praised Herbig’s competitiveness and physicality and felt like he’s a great fit with what the Steelers do.

Herbig should have every opportunity to be the team’s top rotational outside linebacker behind Watt and Alex Highsmith.
