Steelers assistant Brian Flores interviews for Browns DC position

The Cleveland Browns announced on Thursday they were interviewing former Miami Dolphins head coach and current Pittsburgh Steelers defensive assistant Brian Flores for their defensive coordinator vacancy. The Browns fired Joe Woods just a day after losing to the Steelers in the season finale.

Flores was fired as the Miami Dolphins head coach amid controversy and his union with the Steelers came together almost by chance. Head coach Mike Tomlin hired Flores after a phone call unrelated to any coaching vacancy. Flores official title with the Steelers is Senior defensive assistant & linebackers coach. The Steelers linebackers weren’t great in 2022 but it is hard to pin all that on Flores and his resume speaks for itself as far as coaching up defenses.

Let us know if you think Flores will be the Browns new defensive coordinator or if could he stay on with the Steelers. Flores was the Dolphins head coach from 2019-2021. He’s currently in the midst of a lawsuit with the NFL alleging racial discrimination in the league’s minority hiring practices.
