State qualifiers for Great Falls High, CMR track and field
The Electric City’s track and field teams kick off postseason competition Friday and Saturday in Billings for the Eastern AA Divisional Meet.
A number of athletes from C.M. Russell High and Great Falls High have already earned qualifying marks for the Class AA state meet next week in Butte, but many more will get the chance to advance by virtue of a top-six finish at the divisional.
On the boys’ side, Great Falls High’s Ryan Harrington, Scott Klinker and Reed Harris have all qualified in multiple events in the regular season, as has Jackson Tarver from CMR.
Klinker has posted the best leaps in the Eastern AA in both the triple and long jumps, while Harris is second in the state in the 100 meters and third in the 200. Harrington has the second-best mile time this spring in the state while also qualifying for state in the 3200, 400 and 800.
CMR’s A.J. LaFurge is second in the AA in the 110 hurdles and leads the East, while defending state champion thrower Anthony Okes ranks first in the league in the discus. Tarver is ranked third in the state in the 400 and has also earned qualifying times in the 100 and 200.
For the girls, Great Falls High’ Kyesha Farmer has set the pace in the East in the long and triple jumps.
The divisional meet begins at 2 p.m. on Friday at Billings West High School and continues Saturday at 10 a.m. Here are the state qualifiers for the Bison and Rustlers heading into this weekend.
