Zeion Simpson-Smith takes home final high school football athlete of the week honor for 2023 season
Pearl-Cohn running back Zeion Simpson-Smith captured another La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries football athlete of the week in Nashville.
This time Simpson-Smith captured the final athlete of the week award for a football player in the Nashville area for the 2023 season. He captured a whopping 80.4% of the vote total (1,378) by capturing 1,114 votes.
He beat out East Nashville's Kelan Anderson (245 votes) and Page's Jonathan Palmer (8).
Simpson-Smith was named the 4A championship game MVP after running for 181 yards and two touchdowns as Pearl-Cohn snapped a 26-year championship drought by beating Upperman, 36-27 Dec. 2.
Simpson-Smith was also a Mr. Football finalist in Class 4A. His teammate, Keyshawn Tarleton, captured the award last week.
