Stars across all spring sports nominated for Athlete of the Week

As we come ever closer to postseason competition in spring sports, it’s time again for the Tribune’s Athlete of the Week.

Congratulations to last week’s winners of the poll, Katie Slade of Great Falls High track and Chad Wyman of Great Falls High tennis.

Each week during competition, two girls and two boys will be nominated, with the audience choosing the winner via poll, which are both posted below.

Athletic directors, coaches, parents, and fans are encouraged to send in Athlete of the Week nominations for competitors in all sports in northcentral Montana. Nominations can be sent to sports reporter Grady Higgins at ghiggins@greatfallstribune.com.

Voting on this week’s poll will be open until Friday at 11:59 p.m., and the winners of the vote will be announced in the following week’s Athlete of the Week story.

Here are this week’s nominees for the girls:

Harley Brown, CMR softball: The junior finished with five RBIs and earned the win as the starting pitcher in a 9-5 win over Gallatin on Thursday.

Addi Kynett, Great Falls High track: The junior leaped a personal record of 35 feet, 11 inches to win the triple jump in the crosstown meet Friday and surpass the state-qualifying mark.

Here are the nominees for the boys:

Tristan Watson, Great Falls High track: The senior hit the 6-foot-6 mark to win the high jump at the crosstown meet on Friday and tie for the top jump in the state this season.

Josh Stimac, CMR tennis: The two-time senior state-placer helped lead the Rustlers to a win in the crosstown dual Monday, taking the No. 1 doubles match 6-0, 6-1 with partner Eli Crist.
