Who is The Star Press' IU Health Athlete of the Week for April 15-20? Vote now

It's time again to vote for The Star Press East Central Indiana high school Athlete of the Week sponsored by IU Health.

The reigning Athlete of the Week is Jillian Barr of Delta girls track and field after she took 50.96% of the vote last week. Placing second was Bailee West of Wes Del softball while Yorktown boys track standout Ephraim Daughtery placed third.

This week brings us more nominees for Athlete of the Week for April 15-20. Please submit nominees via email to clindskog@gannett.com so they can be included in next week's poll.

Voting will remain open below until Friday at noon.

  • Meryck Adams and Bryson Sigler, Daleville baseball: Saturday at Daleville with Sigler behind the plate and Adams on the mound, they struck out a new school record 20 Tri-Central Trojans.

  • Abbey Booher, Yorktown softball: The junior was 11-for-18 at the plate (.611 average) last week as she scored 14 runs, notched three RBIs, stole two bases and did not strike out while walking four times.

  • Elise Boyd, Shenandoah softball: She went 10-for-15 on the week with one double, one triple, seven runs and two RBIs home two across four games last week in which the Raiders went 3-1 (losing only to Frankton 7-6).

  • Sydney Crisp, Blue River Valley girls tennis: The sophomore was 4-0 on the week and is now 9-0 overall at No. 1 singles. She defeated Northeastern 6-1, 6-4 on Monday, Seton Catholic 6-0, 6-0 on Tuesday, Eastern Hancock 6-0, 6-4 on Thursday, and Randolph Southern 6-1, 6-0 on Friday.

  • Tyler Dillon, Delta boys track: He beat the school track and field record on April 18 in the 800 for a time of 1:57.1.

  • Jacob Fox, Blue River Valley boys track: He placed first at Muncie Central Relays in shot put and second in discus. He has been first in all five meets this year in shot put with a best throw of 44 feet, 10 inches, and first in three of the five meets (second in the other two) in discus with a best throw of 118 feet, 10 inches.

  • Kayla Porter, Daleville girls track: She broke a 42-year-old Daleville girls track and field discus throw record with her throw of 104 feet, 7 inches.
