The Star highlights the Top 25 girls volleyball players in the area

Eight county girls volleyball teams earn rankings in the CIF-SS polls, including No. 2 Ventura in Division 5 and No. 3 Thousand Oaks in Division 4.

Two-time consecutive Southern Section finalist Oaks Christian takes the No. 16 spot in Division 1/2.

Several more teams, including Oxnard in the Channel League, are making determined pushes for playoffs berths.

So naturally there is no shortage of top notch girls volleyball talent in Ventura County.

Here’s a compilation of The Star’s stellar Top 25. In no particular order.

Kate Duffey, Ventura: The senior setter and UCLA commit has piled up 379 assists, or 7.3 per set. Her all-around skills have also racked up 100 kills and 159 digs while leading the Cougars to first place in the Channel League.

Gigi Scaglia, Ventura: The 5-foot-11 sophomore has emerged as the Cougars' top hitter. She’s racked up 144 kills, at 2.9 per set, along with 17 blocks.

London Halvorsen, Thousand Oaks: The sophomore outside hitter leads the Lancers in kills, including 12 in a recent sweep of Newbury Park.

Maggie Rhew, Oaks Christian: The polished junior setter has totaled 270 assists, or 4.7 per set, as part of the Lions' two-setter attack. She also has 105 digs.

Manaia Ogbechie, Oaks Christian: The 6-3 middle hitter leads the Lions with 146 kills and 62 blocks.

Anya Baklenko, Oaks Christian: The emerging freshman star has notched 231 assists along with 128 digs and 30 kills.

Laney Ramirez, Oxnard: The 6-foot-2 senior leads the Yellowjackets in kills with 125, or 2.5 per set. She also has 31 blocks.

Valeria Ibarra, Oxnard: The 5-6 junior setter orchestrates the attack with 361 assists, or 7.7 per set. She’s added 102 digs and 13 kills.

Chloe Cook, Simi Valley: The freshman outside hitter has been a consistent contributor, including 11 kills, 12 digs and three aces in a recent win over Oak Park.

Alexis O’Keefe, Agoura: As a key force in the Chargers attack, the junior outside hitter notched nine kills in an important Marmonte League win over Calabasas.

Kaitlin Logan, St. Bonaventure: The second-place Seraphs count on their senior captain, who had 11 kills, 13 digs and an ace in a win over Laguna Blanca.

Sienna Huckestein, St. Bonaventure: As a sophomore, the talented setter directs the attack. She had 35 assists in a win over Foothill Tech.

Emily Ford, Royal: The senior opposite is a steady hitter, including 15 kills, eight digs and six aces in a win over Moorpark.

Kyriah Trefren, Royal: High-level defense is what the senior libero delivers, including 20 digs in a win over Moorpark.

Sophia Sletten, Ventura: The senior outside hitter has smashed 138 kills, or 2.7 per set.

Shai Daniels, Buena: The senior outside hitter is the Bulldogs steady hitter. She had nine kills in a victory vs. Pacifica.

Sarah Shaw, La Reina: The Brown University commit is among the county’s top hitters. She put down 20 kills along with five aces, two blocks and two digs in a victory over Cate.

Maddie Dodd, La Reina: Part of the Regents’ potent attack, he had 13 kills and seven digs vs. Cate.

Soraya Forbes, St. Bonaventure: The sophomore middle hitter is a consistent contributor, including nine kills and three blocks vs. Laguna Blanca.

Leah Curtin, Thousand Oaks: The 5-8 sophomore outside hitter is No. 2 in kills among the Lancers. She had 19 kills in a victory over Royal.

Keira Overbeck, Newbury Park: All that and only a freshman. Already one of the top setters in the region, she collected 37 assists in a win over Calabasas.

Olivia Campisi, Simi Valley: The senior outside hitter is a steady scorer. She had 11 kills and four aces in a win over Rio Mesa.

Sydney Davis, Buena: The senior setter points the way for the Bulldogs. She had nine assists in a recent win over Rio Mesa.

Kinsley Gullatt, Villanova Prep: Only a freshman and the outside is already a force. She notched nine kills in a recent match vs. Thacher to run her total to 83.

Halle Bryce, Camarillo: Another of the county’s talented freshmen, the 6-2 outside hitter/opposite is the Scorpions' kills leader. She had eight in a contest vs. Royal.
