Sports shorts: Tigers stun Trojans on the pitch

Feb. 2—The Tokay High girls soccer team finished the regular season with a hurrah, taking down Lincoln 2-1 on Thursday. Ilena Guzman and Jaden Hiers each scored for Tokay, with an assist from Hiers. In goal, Hannah Dickinson finished with eight saves.

Tokay finished with a 7-10-5 record, and 2-7-1 in the TCAL.

Varsity girls: Lodi 1, West 1

The Flames finished the regular season with a tie against West on Thursday, with Lodi's goal coming from Jocelyn Maldonado in the second half.

The Flames finished TCAL play with a 2-6-2 record, and West finished at 2-5-3, likely leaving Lodi out of the playoffs. The Sac-Joaquin Section will release its postseason soccer brackets next Wednesday.

Varsity boys: Galt 7, Bradshaw Christian 0

The Warriors finished the regular season with an undefeated record on Thursday, beating Bradshaw Christian for a 17-0-4 overall record, and 9-0-1in the Sierra Valley Conference.

Sean Hayden Miller and Miguel Garcia each scored a pair of goals on Thursday, with one each from David Morales, Ben Stratton and Christian Gomez. Three assists went to Stratton, two to Garcia, and one each to Miller and Vicente Marquez.

Varsity girls: Liberty Ranch 5, Union Mine 0

The Hawks completed an undefeated run through the SVC with Thursday's victory, for an 8-0-2 league record and 11-5-3 overall.

Natalie Merlin, Maryn Rogers, Libby Portillo, Ellianna Keiser and Juliana Romero each scored, with assists from Merlin, Rogers, Alora Lopez, Halle Ory and Yoselin Del Toro. Zia Ruppert and Kennie Thomas split time in goal, with three saves each.

Varsity boys: Liberty Ranch 3, Union Mine 0

The Hawks finished the regular season with a victory on Thursday, ending with an 8-4-4 overall record, and 7-1-2 in SVC play.

Varsity girls: Galt 1, Bradshaw Christian 0

The Warriors finished the regular season with a 12-4-4 record after Thursday's victory, and 6-1-3 in the SVC.

BASKETBALL

Varsity girls: Lodi 37, Tracy 26

The Flames improved to 15-10 overall, and 5-2 in TCAL play with Thursday's victory. Lodi will host Tokay on Feb. 9, with playoffs brackets coming out the following day.

Varsity girls: Elliot Christian 49, Turlock Christian 31

The Eagles jumped out to a 33-13 halftime lead on their way to victory on Thursday, improving to 11-5 overall and 4-3 in the CCAA.

Bella Perry led Elliot with 22 points, and added eight rebounds and six steals. Jessica Williams tallied 12 points and six rebounds, Hannah Duncan had six points and 10 boards, Knatiyah Middleton had three points, eight rebounds and six steals, Jaylie Supnet had three points, Isabella Ramirez had two points and Destiny Hernandez had one.

Elliot will host Millennium next Thursday in the regular-season finale.

Varsity boys: Turlock Christian 58, Elliot Christian 56

The Eagles lost a close one on Thursday, falling to 0-8 in CCAA play and 4-16 overall. Elliot will host Big Valley Christian on Tuesday.

JV girls: Lodi 41, Tracy 27

The JV Flames were led by Paige Buckley's 16 points in Thursday's victory, along with 11 from Kylie Blum, four each from Hope Carson, Khalayah Wright and D.J. Mancuso, and two from Lacie Glissman. Lodi improved to 5-2 in the TCAL.
