Sports shorts: Lodi, Tokay athletes earn all-TCAL soccer honors

Mar. 1—The Lodi and Tokay had a number of all-league selections when the Tri-City Athletic League announced its soccer postseason award this week.

In the girls All-TCAL team, Lodi senior Madison Fitzer and junior Jocelyn Maldonado were named all-league, as were Tokay juniors Jaden Hiers and Gabriela Gonzalez.

St. Mary's Allesandra Barajas was named the league MVP, while Tracy's Ava Cloverdale and Lincoln's Emma Rapier were co-offensive MVPs. Midfield MVP went to St. Mary's Anisa Gonzalez, co-defensive MVPs were St. Mary's Kennedy Strickland and West's Genasey Agustin, and goalie MVP was Lincoln's Hailey McCormack.

In the boys selections, Tokay seniors Alexander Bazaldua and Jordan Hernandez, plus sophomore Rafael Trujillo were named all-league. For Lodi, David Ordinola and Adam Phillips made the team.

Lincoln's Caleb Cliburn was named offensive MVP, and the rest of the top awards went to St. Mary's players — co-midfield Mvs Abraham Tejeda and Kevin Manshadi, defensive MVP Omar Quintero and goalie MVP Adrian Lopez.

BASEBALL

Varsity: Galt 4, Rio Vista 2

The Warriors managed one hit at the plate, but six walks, four hit batsmen and an error helped Galt come out on top on Thursday.

Giovanni Sterni singled for the lone Galt hit. The Warriors will host Leroy Greene Academy on Monday.
