Southern Miss to host Tennessee baseball in Super Regional

Tennessee (41-19, 16-14 SEC) will play at Southern Miss (44-18, 22-8 Sun Belt) in a NCAA Tournament super regional.

Neither the Vols nor the Golden Eagles are national seeds and neither hosted a regional. Both were No. 2 seeds in their respective regionals. Tennessee won the Clemson Regional; Southern Miss advanced by winning the Auburn Regional.

Tennessee is making its third consecutive NCAA Tournament super regional appearance under sixth-year head coach Tony Vitello. The Vols advanced to the College World Series in 2021.

Scott Berry has served as Southern Miss’ head coach since 2010. Berry will retire following the 2023 season. He served as the Golden Eagles’ assistant coach from 2001-09.

Southern Miss assistant coach Christian Ostrander will replace Berry as the Golden Eagles’ next head coach.
