SouthCoast's top performers, scores and highlights for Jan. 2-7

SouthCoast's nine schools — Apponequet, Bishop Stang, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, GNB Voc-Tech, New Bedford, Old Colony, Old Rochester and Wareham — are all in back in action to open the new year and conference playing is starting to heat up.

Here's a look at the SouthCoast's top performers, scores and highlights for Jan. 2-7:

Friday, Jan. 5

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Dartmouth 56, Brockton 38: Kate Sullivan had the best game of her career with 12 points and five blocks to lead undefeated Dartmouth to its eighth win and first in the SEC. Kat Cheesebro led the way with 36 points and nine rebounds.

Bridgewater-Raynham 68, New Bedford 62: Lexi Thompson notched 19 points and Zaria Anderson added 13 as the Whalers (3-4, 0-1 SEC) came close to knocking off defending SEC champion Bridgewater-Raynham. Jonila Ramos added six points.

Old Rochester 62, Seekonk 49: Emerson Gonet led the Bulldogs (5-2, 4-0 SCC) by knocking down five 3-pointers. Amber Engel added 11 points while Carly Mello, Hannah Thorell and Emma Johnson each chipped in with nine points.

GNB Voc-Tech 51, Case 44: Jai-Ana Silva led the Bears with 17 points, five rebounds and four steals while Kaira Dubois chipped in with nine points and three steals and Casalice Dias had eight points.

Nauset 46, Wareham 30: The Vikings (6-1) suffered their first loss of the season. Lexi Gomes, Johnny Tompkins and Jordyn Elwood had six points apiece.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Dartmouth 62, Brockton 57: Jasiel Colon scored a team-high 20 points while Hunter Matteson added 19 and Logan Kennedy chipped in with 17 for Dartmouth (5-1, 1-0 SEC).

Old Rochester 68, Seekonk 43: Zack Mourao knocked down six 3-pointers en route to 18 points while Chase Besancon added 18 points inside to lead the Bulldogs (7-2, 4-0 SCC). John Butler and Finn Kavanaugh added nine points apiece.

Bridgewater-Raynham 72, New Bedford 69: Joseph Goodine led the Whalers (2-4, 0-1 SEC) with 27 points and 14 rebounds while Craig Baptista chipped in with 14 points and Dezmond Brunskill added 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jaren Goodine had nine points and seven assists.

Somerset Berkley 77, Fairhaven 44: Hansen Zhao led the Blue Devils (3-5, 1-3 SCC) with 16 points while Cam Burke and Ryan Ptaszenski added seven apiece.

Case 53, GNB Voc-Tech 48: Jhaden Reis led the Bears (1-7, 0-3 SCC) with 10 points.

Thursday, Jan. 4

BOYS BASKETBALL

Old Colony 75, Bristol-Plymouth 53: Max Finney had 21 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks to power the undefeated Cougars (6-0). Nick Fringuelli added 14 points, nine rebounds and four blocks while Wyatt Smiley had nine points, four rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bristol-Plymouth 37, Old Colony 21: Lindsey Bacchiocchi led the Cougars (1-4) with 12 points while Lilly Sawiski added four.

BOYS TRACK

GNB Voc-Tech 52, Somerset Berkley 32: Daniel Ward won the mile and 1,000 to power the undefeated Bears (4-0). Jarred Quan was first in the 55 dash while Owen Viera won the 55 hurdles and Williams Guillotte was fastest in the 2-mile.

GIRLS TRACK

GNB Voc-Tech 48, Somerset Berkley 33: Winners for GNB Voc-Tech (3-1) were Morgan Gonsalves in the mile, Ellena Aponte in the 600 and 2-mile, Madalyn Duarte in the 1,000, Kendra Santiago in the 300 and and Kim Bourque in the shot put.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Seekonk 95, New Bedford 87: Trinity Coleman qualified for states in both the 50 freestyle (first place; 26.55) and 100 breaststroke (second place; 1:14.10) to lead the Whalers (3-1). New Bedford also got wins from Piper Reis in diving (158.15 points) and Serenity Coleman, who took first in the 100 butterfly with a state-qualifying time of 1:03.53). Serenity Coleman also qualified in the 200 IM (second; 2:23.75) and on the 200 medley relay team (2:01.02) along with Caroline Huston, Trinity Coleman and Annabelle Huston.

BOYS SWIMMING

New Bedford 100.5, Seekonk 73.5: Winners for New Bedford were Owen Jupin in the 50 freestyle (25.76) and 100 freestyle (1:01.63), Alex Conde in the 200 IM (2:16.92), Michael O’Leary in diving (124.35) and Cairon Nunez in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.08).

Wednesday, Jan. 3

BOYS HOCKEY

Dartmouth 6, Stoughton-Brockton 3: Aidan Cruz had a goal and three assists to power Dartmouth to its third straight win. Will Gibson scored his sixth goal of the year. Lucas DeSousa had a goal and two assists. Jack Gifford notched his first career goal and Charlie Camisa and John Bicho finished up the scoring. Tristan Terrenzi had his first start in net, earning his first career win.

Bishop Stang 6, Latin Academy 1: Kyle and Aidan Cousineau had two goals and two assists apiece to power the Spartans (6-2) to their sixth win of the season. Seth LeBreux and Eli Ikkela each scored once while Will Sanders had an assist. Carter Vane made 28 saves.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Marshfield 3, Bishop Stang 2, OT: Bella Batista and Madison Lewis each scored a goal for Stang (3-3, 1-0).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wareham 49, Monomoy 46: Jordyn Elwood powered the undefeated Vikings (6-0) with 18 points while Johnny Tompkins added 12. Keira Pierre, Masaydes Perry and Riana Phillips had five points apiece.

Old Rochester 51, Dighton-Rehoboth 31: Hannah Thorell scored a team-high 12 points while Amber Engel and Emerson Gonet added 10 points apiece for the Bulldogs (4-2, 3-0 SCC).

Taunton 71, New Bedford 60: Zaria Anderson scored a team-high 23 points while Lexi Thompson added 20 for the Whalers (3-3). Jonila Ramos chipped in with nine and Bella Emile added eight.

BOYS TRACK

Bishop Feehan 62, Bishop Stang 38: Mike Veegh took first in the 300 (37.89) and 600 (1:31.13) to pace the Spartans (0-3). Lowell Copps won the mile (4:40.3) while Bobby Rooney took first in the high jump (5-8).

Apponequet 47, Dighton-Rehoboth 39: Luca Rubini won the mile and 1,000 to lead the Lakers (2-1). Judson Cardinali was first in the 600 and high jump and second in the 55 hurdles. Apponequet’s other wins came from Justin Serrecchia in the 55, Nathan Furtado in the 2-mile and Josh Synder in the shot put.

Tri-County 79, Wareham 19: Aiden Robert won the 55 hurdles (8.25) and 55 dash (6.98) to lead the Vikings (0-3, 0-2).

Case 57, Fairhaven 29: Josh Arruda won the 1,000 (3:16) and took second in the mile (5:34) to pace the Blue Devils (0-2). Zach Moura was first in the shot put (36).

GIRLS TRACK

Apponequet 66, Dighton-Rehoboth 20: Morgan Hayward took first in the 600, high jump and 55 and was second in the shot put to power the undefeated Lakers (3-0). Apponequet also got wins from Keltey Fournier in the mile, Madeline Polochick in the 2-mile, Isabella Sergio in the 1,000, Emerson Ricciardi in the 55 hurdles and Leah McGee in the 300.

Wareham 51, Tri-County 48: Winning events for Wareham (1-2, 1-1) were Jayla Fernandes in the 55 dash (8.58), Alexis Pettersen in the 55 hurdles (9.80), Jolee Anderson in the shot put (32-10) and Sienna Cabe in the long jump (14-6).

Case 51, Fairhaven 34: Bella Menard was the lone winner for Fairhaven (0-2) in the 1,000 (3:48).

Tuesday, Jan. 2

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Apponequet 61, Case 30: Hannah Kuriscak knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a team-high 17 points. She also had four steals. CC Levrault chipped in with 15 points, four rebounds, five steals and three assists while Brooke Generazzo had nine points and four rebounds and Addison Taylor added three points, six assists and three steals for the Lakers (6-2, 4-0 SCC).

Dartmouth 61, North Attleboro 43: Kat Cheesebro notched 32 points while Kaelyn Zuber added 15 as Dartmouth improved to 7-0 on the season. Hailey Martins chipped in with six points.

Somerset Berkley 60, GNB Voc-Tech 36: Jai-Ana Silva had 19 points and nine rebounds while Laila Pires had seven points and nine rebounds for the Bears (2-6, 0-3 SCC). Kaira Dubois chipped in with four steals and three blocks.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Old Rochester 64, Dighton-Rehoboth 48: Zack Mourao knocked down three 3-pointers for 22 points while John Butler connected on four from long distance for 20 points as the Bulldogs improved to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the SCC. Chase Besancon added 13 points and 19 rebounds.

Fairhaven 59, West Bridgewater 46: The Blue Devils (3-4, 1-2 SCC) captured their second straight win and their first in the South Coast Conference as Hansen Zhao and Ryan Ptaszenski had 15 points apiece. Josh Vieira added 14 points while Ayden Duguay chipped in with 11.

Somerset Berkley 73, GNB Voc-Tech 53: The Bears (1-6, 0-3) Rallied back from a 26-point deficit to cut it to seven with just over six minutes to play. Jhaden Reis led Voc-Tech with 15 points and seven rebounds while Demetrious Baptiste had 15 points and Dorian Fortes chipped in with seven points and rebounds.
