South Kingstown rallies for a tie in boys soccer while winning its girls soccer match

BOYS SOCCER

Division I

Portsmouth 2, South Kingstown 2

The Patriots were about three minutes away from their second win of the season, but the Rebels had other plans. Portsmouth's Tyler Both opened the scoring with a goal with 4:13 left in the first half. Landon Rodrigues put the Patriots up by two scores with a goal early in the second. Aidan Chen and Sean Collins had the assists. But South Kingstown's Derek Moffat scored with 4:49 to play, and Ben White hit the equalizer with 2:58 to go to finish the contest in a tie. In net, Kyle Bielawa made 6 saves for Portsmouth; Matthew Clark had 5 for SK.

GIRLS SOCCER

Division I

South Kingstown 1, North Kingstown 0

Addison Strom buried a pass by Finley Strom in the back of the net midway through the first half for what would be the only goal of the game as the Rebels defeated the Skippers. SK goaltender Abbie O'Rourke recorded 13 saves to earn the shutout.

Division III

Westerly 3, St. Raphael 0

The Bulldogs kept their unbeaten streak alive, blanking the Saints in Division III play. Nora Zerbarini opened the scoring in the first half, assisted by Danica Jarrett. Two more scores followed in the second half for Westerly, one by Jarrett and the last by Calla Bruno, both unassisted. In net, Vittoria Illiano made 4 saves in the win. For St. Ray's, Paige Troiano had 11 saves.

Division IV

Central 1, Blackstone Valley Prep 1

Emely Carreon did double duty for Blackstone Valley Prep on Monday. The 11th-grader started in goal and made four first-half saves as the teams played to a scoreless tie entering intermission.  She took the field after the break and scored the Pride's lone goal, tying the game. Hilary Castro had given the Knights a 1-0 lead earlier in the half. Carreon's replacement in net, Natalie Hernandez, finished with 3 saves for BVP. Yisel Morales had 3 for Central.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

South Kingstown 3, Chariho 0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-20)

Karmen Lambert's 21 digs, 8 kills 2 blocks and 1 ace, India Vaughn-Hallene's 8 kills, 5 blocks and Ally Tuoti's 7 kills, 4 aces) paved the way for the Rebels' victory over the Chargers. Also contributing to the win was Mia Iemma with 20 digs and 3 aces. Chariho's Jules White posted 19 digs and 6 kills and Katja Nelson had 6 kills and 2 blocks in the loss.

La Salle 3, Cranston East 0

The Rams pushed their Division I-leading record to 7-1, thanks to a trio of big performances. Abby Crowley led the Rams with 30 assists, 4 kills, 3 aces and 2 digs, Maisy Naff had 13 kills, 2 aces, and 1 dig, and Kaelyn Whitaker had 10 kills, 1 ace and 1 dig. For the Thunderbolts, Angellina Saing had 7 assists and 7 digs and Sophia Kaba had 5 kills in the loss.

North Kingstown 3, Mount St. Charles 0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14)

Tessa Lafrenier led the way with 9 kills, 4 digs and 2 aces and Ava Sardelli added 9 kills and 3 blocks as the Skippers held off the Mounties in a Division I crossover. Mazie Phillips finished with 5 kills and 7 digs and Maggie Ray had  2 aces and 3 kills for MSC.

East Greenwich 3, West Warwick 0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-19)

Amanda Duke led the Avengers with 28 assists and 5 aces, Hannah Gaffney had 17 digs and Gabriella Jackson had 4 kills, 1 block and 6 digs. Kaitlyn Toce added 4 kills and 2 blocks in EG's D-I crossover victory.

Classical 3, Portsmouth 0 (17-25, 25-23, 25-22,. 21-25, 15-8)

The Purple's Deana Baez had 28 assists, 3 aces, 3 blocks and 9 digs, Taliya Pereira had 16 kills and 13 digs, and Harmony Forrest had 10 kills, 2 aces and 4 digs in their Division I-crossover victory. For the Patriots, Avery Pelletier recorded 17 kills 7 digs and 3 aces, and Caitlin Mediate had 33 assists, 13 digs and 6 aces in the loss.

Coventry 3, Prout 0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-23), JV - P, 2-0

Olivia Rollinson led the Oakers with 12 kills and 3 aces, Abby Spadoni had 10 kills and 16 digs, Addison Patrick had 3 kills and 7 blocks and Michaela McGovern had 7 aces. For the Crusaders, Paige Megley had 4 kills and 3 blocks and Sylvia Mayo had 3 kills and 10 digs

Division II

Bay View 3, Ponaganset 0 (25-21, 25-7, 25-18)

The play of Avery Gomes (13 kills, 5 aces, 7 digs), Maddie Gomes (17 digs, 2 aces, 2 kills) and Gianna Paolino (36 assists, 2 kills, 1 ace) sparked the Bengals to victory over the Chieftains. Ava DiFiore had 4 aces, 2 kills, 7 assists and 2 digs for Ponaganset, and teammates Kait Campbell and Zoe Glover had 6 and 5 kills, respectively.

North Smithfield 3, Rogers 0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-14)

Julia Mandeville finished with 6 aces, Jasmine Baccouche contributed 6 kills and Mackenzie Marcoux added 5 kills as North Smithfield, now 6-4-0, swept. Jelani Jackson's 4 aces and 7 digs and Margaret Phelp's ace led the Vikings, now 0-9.

East Providence 3, Lincoln 1 (25-15, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18)

Eliza Best recorded 12 kills and 4 aces and Keira Mullen had 9 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks and 13 assists as the Townies improved their record to 8-0 with a victory over the Lions. Amenna Sarr put together a solid effort for Lincoln with 25 assists and 4 aces.

Exeter/West Greenwich 3, St. Raphael 1 (25-16, 23-25, 27-25, 25-23)

In a hard-fought battle that went four sets, the Scarlet Knights, now 3-5-0, ultimately prevailed thanks to the combined efforts of Erin Tierney (7 digs,  9 kills, 2 blocks, 4 aces), Isabella McCoombs (14 digs, 7 kills, 3 aces) and Madison Andrade (13 assists, 1 kills, 1 dig). The Saints, now 2-6-0, got strong performances from Eriana Blanco (23 digs), Morgan Fontaine (19 digs) and Olivia Demacedo (16 assists).

Mt. Hope 3, Pilgrim 0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-20)

Mia Shaw (14 assists, 9 digs, 10 aces) and Abby Allen (6 kills, 3 blocks) sparked the Huskies to a sweep and a record of 7-1-0. The Patriots, who fall to 2-5-0, were led by  Kayli Sherlock (5 kills) and Marin Prest (15 digs).

Barrington 3, Westerly 1 (25-21, 25-22, 17-23, 25-17)

Kasey Dillon had 16 kills, 4 aces and 5 digs for the Eagles (6-2), and Sophia Denham had 16 assists, 6 kills, and 6 digs. For the Bulldogs (5-3), Alex Stoehr had 16 digs and Abby Donato had 9 assists and 3 aces in the loss.

Cranston West 3, Middletown 0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-18)

The performances of Brook Menna (8 kills, 3 blocks) and Olivia Venagro (5 kills, 16 assists) helped lift Cranston West to victory over Middletown. For the Islanders, Gianna Piker had 7 kills, Skylar Schuster was good for 4 kills and 2 blocks and Olivia Kestler dished for 20 assists.

Division III

Central 3, Narragansett 2 (20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 15-10)

Danna Garcia led the Knights with 14 kills and 10 aces and Janet Batista had 18 assists and 3 aces. For the Mariners, MacKenzie Gallagher had 17 digs, 8 aces and 7 assists, and Clare Oberheu had 8 digs, 4 aces and 9 kills in the loss.

Tiverton 3, Scituate 2 (17-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-10)

The Tigers roared back from a 2-0 deficit and defeated the Spartans in five sets in this D-III crossover. Leading the comeback were Julia Polofsky (6 aces, 8 kills), Hayleigh Korzeniowski (2 aces, 9 kills) and Eilish Condon (10 aces, 17 assists). Tiverton is now 2-4-0 while Scituate drops to 2-4-0.

Division IV

Mount Pleasant 3, Times2/Paul Cuffee 0

The Kilties pushed their record to 7-1 as Nicole Susana led Mount Pleasant with 9 kills, and teammate Nariaw Selemana had 6 kills and 6 aces in the victory.
