DeRozan's deal came together because of a strong relationship with Bulls general manager Marc Eversley, who drafted DeRozan in Toronto.
Last season with the Spurs, DeRozan averaged 21.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and a career-high 6.9 assists. He spent three seasons in San Antonio after nine in Toronto that included four All-Star selections.
Bulls make moves around Zach LaVine
The Bulls have been active this offseason, agreeing to another sign-and-trade deal on Monday that will bring Lonzo Ball from New Orleans. In that deal, Chicago sent out Tomas Satoransky, Garrett Temple and a second-round draft pick to the Pelicans.
Ball, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 draft, averaged 14.6 points, 5.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds last season.
Chicago also agreed to a four-year deal with guard Alex Caruso on Monday.
All-Star guard Zach LaVine is eligible for an extension this offseason, and the Bulls are making moves to build around him.
