The Cincinnati Bengals made their first splash in free agency by agreeing to a two-year deal with safety Geno Stone, sources confirm to The Enquirer. The news was first reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Stone, 24, was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft out of the University of Iowa.

After a disappointing performance from former first-round pick Dax Hill at free safety last season, the Bengals went into free agency knowing they needed to upgrade at safety.

By adding Stone to the roster, defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo has flexibility in where he can move Hill now. Stone will be paired with second-year safety Jordan Battle. Sources tell Enquirer that Stone agreed to a two-year deal worth $15 million with $6 million coming as a signing bonus.

In Stone, the Bengals get a player who’s proven he can generate turnovers and is familiar with the AFC North. Stone racked up seven interceptions last season, including picking off Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow at Paycor Stadium.
