SOFTBALL: Williams racking up perfect games for Science & Arts

Apr. 22—The perfect games are adding up.

University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma pitcher Sophie Williams has led the pitching staff for the past couple of seasons. Along the way, the junior pitcher has racked up perfect games for the Drovers.

Following a perfect game against Central Christian College of Kansas in Chickasha last week, Williams has brought her career total up to five, per the school. That number includes three this season.

Along with the one against Central Christian, Williams has also thrown perfect games against Wayland Baptist University and Langston University in 2024. And, per the school, the five career perfect games go with the three no-hitters she has tossed in her career.

The perfect games are a part of what has been a strong junior campaign for a pitcher who has not allowed a run in 26 consecutive innings. Williams has not given up a run since April 5.

Williams is currently 20-4 on the season and has two saves to go along with a .91 ERA. She has earned three NAIA Pitcher of the Week honors this season and more Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors.

Williams has helped lead the Drovers to a 36-7 record this season.

Since stepping into the circle at Science & Arts, Williams has had to take over for the NAIA's all-time winningest pitcher in Emily Cerny. She is 62-17 in her Science & Arts career.
