Softball: Old Bridge the top seed in the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament

The 2024 Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament and GMC Invitational Tournament were seeded Tuesday morning at Spotswood High School, with Old Bridge taking the top seed in the championship bracket and Perth Amboy named the top seed in the GMCIT.

Five-time defending champ St. Thomas Aquinas is the No. 5 seed, while last year’s runners-up, Metuchen, is seeded No. 6. Middlesex, which won the GMCIT last year, is seeded 15th in the championship bracket this year.

The GMCT will begin play on Thursday, with the quarterfinals played Saturday, all at Spotswood. Semifinals are slated for May 15 at South Plainfield, with the championship game May 17 at Woodbridge.

The Invitational field also begins play Thursday with a play-in game, with the second round Friday. Quarterfinals are May 13, semis May 16 and the final on May 20.
