Social media reacts to UNC’s defense struggling again
Mack Brown’s North Carolina Tar Heels are lucky to get out of Atlanta with a win over Georgia State on Saturday. Despite completing the comeback and moving to 3-0 on the year, the Tar Heels blew a 21-3 lead and found themselves down in the second half.
And it was the same things that have plagued them through the first two games — defense.
After giving up 61 points to Appalachian State last week, the Tar Heels vowed to get better this week. Now, they did make some key plays in the fourth quarter including giving up zero points. So I have to give them credit for that.
However, the defense did struggle for most of the game, leaving some questions that still need to be answered in the coming weeks. The good news is that they have a bye week before hosting Notre Dame in two weeks, so they have time to clean it up.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the defense and how they played today.
A lot of time left, but no matter the outcome, this is a bad performance by #UNC. Not prepared and a very bad 3rd quarter. No adjustments.
Let's see what Drake Maye can do playing from behind. And if they defense can get stop.
I feel like I sound a little like @UNC_Humor here. https://t.co/XGD4phF6SG

#UNC defense about to give up a 98-yard drive to *checks notes* Georgia State. So much for “getting it fixed”.

Yo…it’s no way the defense is this damn bad! Make an adjustment Damn #UNC.

Through 2.75 games, this #UNC defense is as bad as any early Fedora defense. Yeah, even that one.
And there’s zero excuse for it given the personnel on that roster. None.

Now there’s the #UNC defense we know.

This might be the worst UNC secondary in memory.
