Social media reacts to ugly-looking Trevor Lawrence ankle injury on Monday Night Football
The Jacksonville Jaguars were in the primetime spotlight this week when quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered an ankle injury.
The team's first appearance on Monday Night Football in over 10 years ended with a face-off between second-string quarterbacks and a close and devastating loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Lawrence's initial diagnosis is an ankle sprain. The severity has yet to be determined but the quarterback is scheduled to have an MRI today. Last night he left the stadium in a boot and on crutches.
When Lawrence was injured with five and a half minutes left to go in the fourth quarter, the Jaguars had the ball and were approaching the end zone, with the game tied up at 28-28.
Jags fans, anticipating an imminent field goal opportunity, were devastated when Jacksonville's left tackle Walker Little, stepped on Lawrence's ankle. Lawrence now joins a long roster of quarterbacks sidelined by injuries this football season.
Here's a short roundup of what fans and analysts had to say about the injury on Twitter.

You just knew they were gonna miss that FG after Trevor got hurt too, because the Jaguars can’t have nice things. You get too high and the football gods whack you over the head with a mallet

In postgame locker room, Trevor clearly couldn't put any weight on his right ankle without wincing. Has crutches. Got ankle taped, followed by walking boot. Owner Shad Khan, son Tony and GM Baalke all came up to briefly commiserate with #Jaguars QB.

Trevor Lawrence in the locker room with teammates telling them about his ankle injury. A couple left him smiling after update and he seems in good spirits. Nothing wrapped on his right ankle and he’s standing on his own on that ankle. He does have crutches on ground for support.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a team lose in a single game it’s:
Quarterback
Most dependable receiver
Nickel corner
Best run-stuffing defensive tackle
And
Left tackle.

Trevor Lawrence, your franchise QB, gets his ankle stepped on/rolled over, couldn't get off the field without help, and you make that man walk to the locker room? Not a cart in sight in JAX? C'mon man. pic.twitter.com/9RECyKMq36
