Social Media reacts to Oklahoma Sooners shutout loss to the Texas Longhorns

It was not a good day to be an Oklahoma Sooners fan. The Sooners were dominated in the Cotton Bowl by the Texas Longhorns 49-0 marking their third straight loss in Big 12 play. The first time since 1998.

Without Dillon Gabriel, the offense resorted to the wildcat and trick plays to try and manufacture yards. Ultimately, the lack of an adequate passing attack combined with an untimely move away from the running game marked disaster for an offense that only generated 195 total yards and 11 first downs.

Defensively, it was just as bad.

After a three-and-out on the opening drive, the Sooners couldn’t stop Texas for anything. They allowed 585 total yards of offense and nearly 300 yards rushing on the day.

As expected, Bijan Robinson was a load in the running game, rushing for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Texas’ offensive line dominated in the running game and made life incredibly easy for Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers. Ewers was hardly under pressure, and when he was, he looked poised, throwing for 289 yards and four touchdowns on the day.

Texas had their way with the Oklahoma Sooners today and absolutely dominated in the Red River Showdown.

Let’s take a look at how social media reacted to the Sooners’ loss.
