Social media asks, ‘What if Deion Sanders was the coach at Texas A&M?’
Head coach Deion Sanders has the No. 18 Colorado Buffaloes (2-0) on top of the college football world. In addition to a pair of emphatic wins over TCU and Nebraska, Shedeur Sanders is playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the country. At the same time, two-way phenom Travis Hunter continues to play himself into the Heisman conversation.
The Buffaloes’ success is a testament to what Deion Sanders is building in Boulder. But would he find the same success with the level of resources in, say, College Station? Yes, humor us for a brief moment.
Saturday Down South conceptualized the thought of Sanders as head coach of Texas A&M. Given the program’s storied history, its name, image, and likeness licensing resources, and the level of recruiting talent in Texas; it begs the question of how formidable of a football program Sanders could build in Aggieland.
Can you imagine Deion recruiting as the head coach for Texas A&M…
Huge program, major NIL resources, & recruiting in Texas. pic.twitter.com/nSXk5GBRkz

Now, let’s give credit where credit is due, at least on the recruiting front. Jimbo Fisher put together the best recruiting class of all time during the 2022 cycle and is on the heels of putting together another top 10 class in 2024. While some debate Fisher’s level of success in the win column, you can’t take away his recruiting prowess.
Still, Primetime in Aggieland? With Shedeur Sanders lining up at quarterback? Travis Hunter donning the Maroon and White alongside Evan Stewart? It’s at least worth imagining, right?
Here are a few of the best responses to the thought of Deion Sanders being the head coach of Texas A&M, which naturally exists in some alternate reality.
Rare praise for Jimbo Fisher!
Is he going to get like the best recruiting class ever or something? They already did that.

No lies detected
The kids that want to play for Deion will go play with Deion no matter where he’s at

Coach Prime or Mario Cristobal at the "U?"
If he leaves he’s headed to the state of FL. Would be wild to see him rebuild the U.

Perhaps, a new defensive coordinator?
We already have all of that. It can’t get much better recruiting and resource wise than what Jimbo has going rn. All we need is a competent coaching staff

Deion Sanders: coach of the Dallas Cowboys
If Deion leaves Colorado, it will be to coach in the NFL.

Been there, done that
Yeah, maybe they’d recruit multiple top 5 classes…oh wait

A rare, logical response in the wild
Texas A&M already recruits better than Colorado and Deion.. recruiting isn’t the issue at A&M

You can't deny the work he's doing in Boulder
I've never really been a fan of Deion, the player, (probably the only person to ever say those words) but after watching "Coach Prime", I'd take Deion, the Coach, at A&M all day every day!!
He has the right mentality & approach!— Mark Yeary (@MarkYeary3) September 13, 2023
Look at that, another rational response
Umm, TAMU brought in the highest rated class ever two years ago and is a top 5 basically every year. TAMU’s problem isn’t talent, it’s coaching. And Deion winning two games at the FBS level doesn’t prove he’s an elite coach yet. He’s got potential but still has a long ways to go.

Lane Kiffin might combust if that happens
They better get ready to guarantee him at least $100MM after what they're paying for Jimbo.

FSU continues to be a trendy pick
I don’t see him taking Texas A&M HC job.. He wasn’t or hasn’t looked at big name colleges.. if, that the case should’ve been at FSU for an example.. I could be wrong tho

Is this Deion's burner account?
Imagine instead he wins a championship in Colorado without those things. Wouldn’t that make him among the greatest of the great coaches?

We got a comedian here
He’s coming to Alabama

A&M will be battling Deion on the recruiting trail regardless
When CU joins the B12 he'll be recruiting Texas quite a bit. It's not like they can survive on athletes from Colorado 😎

Jimbo haters are about to have a field day with this one
It begins…
