Soccer playoff first round: St. Joseph boys advance, Flashes girls exit FHSAA postseason

BOYS SOCCER

St. Joseph (7-8-1) moved on in the Florida High School Athletic Association Region 1-2A boys soccer playoffs with Tuesday night's 2-0 victory against Harvest Community. The Warriors close the year at 4-4. The Flashes are now the highest remaining seed in the region, after Community Christian knocked out No. 1 seed Gainesville Oak Hall 1-0. They will play Christ's Church at home on Friday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Sydney Schmidt scored twice and 14-time state champion St. Johns Country Day stayed on course with an 8-0 shutout of St. Joseph (6-9-2). Savannah Berrang, Cece Nowicki, Camila Adame, Sawyer Kenney and Mia Johnson also scored for St. Johns (13-2-5).
