The Philadelphia 76ers value their 2021 rookie class and they want to make sure they get the proper court time in order to develop and become the players that the team believes they can be. On a team that is laced with veterans, that was not going to happen at the NBA level.

So, the Sixers send one of their rookies to the G League with their affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, in order to get the developmental time they need.

That would be Paul Reed who took advantage of his time in the G League bubble in Orlando averaging 22.3 points and 11.8 rebounds while shooting 58.8% from the floor and 44.4% from deep. His efforts helped Delaware get to the G League championship game.

Those numbers and his exciting play helped him earn the 2021 G League MVP award.

Team president Daryl Morey had high praise for Reed when the news was released.

Reed looks like he can be a solid player in this league for a long time if he continues to develop. The Sixers will be able to have him for this stretch run and let him experience what it’s like to go on a playoff run at the NBA level and help him develop in that way. That type of learning experience will go a long way for him.
