Sixers’ Furkan Korkmaz addresses having his name pop up in trade rumors

The NBA trade deadline is rapidly approaching as Feb. 9 is around the corner. Therefore, now is the time when rumors and reports will begin to rise to the top for a lot of teams and players around the league.

The Philadelphia 76ers are no different. They have their eyes set on a title for the 2022-23 season so one has to assume that they will be active leading up to the deadline. Although, most believe the Sixers will make smaller moves in order to look ahead to the offseason.

One name that has popped up in rumors is Furkan Korkmaz. The fifth-year veteran out of Turkey has been out of the rotation and it has been tough for him to really get some playing time at the moment.

Korkmaz spoke with Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer on his feelings about the trade rumors:

“I just let those guys handle it — my agent, my organization-wise,” he said of being in trade discussions. “Right now, I don’t think it’s going to make a lot of sense for me to say anything about it, because it’s not in my hands at some point.

“For me, the best thing that I can say is I want to be happy, you know? I want to be on the court. And whatever they think is working with the team, that’s fine with me.”

Korkmaz has always been a guy who is willing to play any role the Sixers need him to play on any given night. It will be interesting to see how he and the Sixers handle things over the next few weeks leading into deadline day.
